The R.I.P thread...
« Reply #810 on: May 28, 2022, 03:23:36 PM »
Although these young children were not famous my condolences to the 19 young children and 2 teachers who were massacred in Evolde Tx.  We here across the pond have a serious cancer rotting away in the fabric of American culture and no one seems to either have an answer or just don't care as it seems it is happening almost weekly now :'(

Prayers and deepest condolences to every single soul lost and or affected by this most recent massacre as well as the Tops grocery store massacre that happened in Buffalo, NY just recently too.  I hope every American does something beginning right now, about their gun laws and better protecting people of ALL ages, races, creeds, genders, sexual leanings, etc. that live and work and visit their country.  There's a rippling effect.  It seems that everything that happens in the States, seeps up here too.  It's getting bad up here in parts of Canada as well.  There are better avenues to take than putting a gun in one's hand.  It's all really heartbreaking and sad. :'(

for there you have been and there you will always long to return.'

'Just as courage imperils life,
fear protects it.'

RIP Daryl Hunt, bass player of The Pogues. He always seemed like one of the younger and healthier members of the band so I was surprised to learn he was 72.
Immensely unlikely as it may seem, I have the weird feeling that one day MacGowan might the last Pogue left.

And on the subject of bassists, I don’t think I saw the great Mick Tyas of the Whisky Priests mentioned here when he left us last year (or possibly earlier this year  - can’t quite remember now). I once flailed drunkenly into his mic stand, causing his mic to whack him on the nose, but he just took half a step back, nodded to me to reassure me that it was ok, and carried on. Great vocalist as well:

Really sad to hear about Mick, the Priests were a damn good live band back in the day. :(
