Any gig I am involved with in Manchester has got to include a visit to Rusholme, assuming we are not still banned after a certain member of our party fell through a table last time, was one of the best curries I've ever had though.

Cheers

The thing I like about Premier Inn is that you can book now and pay on the day... most hotels want payment on the day you book... cash is really tight right now but will (hopefully) be better in December... anyone got a lead on any hotels that allow you the same courtesy?

Also, if there might be another gig in December...?

Try Luther King House via late rooms but not booking.com
I've stayed there before and it's nice with free brekkie and parking

Decisions, decisions

I so want to do this gig as i can drive there easily enough

Issue is that I'd have to book a day off work for this as I have to work most Saturdays and I work from 1030pm until 1030am

I've only got 9 days leave left now until 31st December so do i take the risk and book a day off as I'm also looking at booking some time off for the Xmas European dates so would need 4 or 5 for the three dates and that would only leave me 3 or 4 days for the rest of the year for other dates that I would like to go to.
Is is a crime to believe in something different?

I meant what I said at the time that I said it

I was thinking about the Academy and thought NMA must have been one of the first gigs I saw at the venue. A quick google reveals that the two shows they did in October 1990 were only a fortnight after the venue had been opened!

To be honest I've never liked the Academy - its a big barn of a venue. BUT the upside is that you can fit a lot of people inside as it is a big barn of a venue. I always thought it was a shame that there was nowhere like Brixton Academy in the North which is a decent 4,500 capacity venue. Though I've never been to the Apollo with the seat removed (in my youth the bouncers had a shoot to kill policy if you moved from your seats).

Anyway - enough moaning - its a great line up and just before Xmas :)

JohnnyM... my first NMA gig was at Manc Acdemy in 1990, 'Impurity' tour... possibly the same gig?  If so, damn, what an experience...

I agree that MA1 is a bit of a soul-less venue, although the fact that I've been there so many times means it has rather of a lot of affection in my heart... it's a shame that Liverpool Royal Court doesn't put on gigs anymore, that was a cracker of a venue!  Imagine Brixton Academy but a lot smaller...

Yes it was the Impurity tour (the previous manc gig on the T&C tour had been next door at what used to be called the MDH - or Academy2 as it is now - a far better venue - though obviously a lot smaller). tbh i havent got many memories of the acual gig (they all fade into one at bit round the late 80s/early 90s - too many gigs and too much strong lager!) other than thinking it was as if someone had worked out how much space "X" many people legally needed - and then built a venue as cheapily as possible to accommodate that many (which is probably what happened)

Strangely i *think* i've only ever seen NMA in Liverpool once (93 tour) - would that have been the Royal Court? We had ended up with balcony tickets which in most venue were usually easy to blag your way downstairs with - but the bouncers were having none of it!

Looking on Trivago now there seems to be a few cheaper deals coming up in Fallowfield, dead handy for both the venue and Rusholme as its all on a direct all night bus route. Not the most glowing of reviews but rooms seem to be going for £35 if it helps anyone
