For me it's Ireland.  Everything is basically scenic.  I only went to country Waterford so didn't even see the most beautiful part.

The other is on the road in the mountains in Greece. I am not sure where.

I will venture in to The balkans pretty soon and I here it's very scenic.  I am thinking Bosnia.
Where I'm from is not my home, and neither's where i'm bound.

Without question, the countryside of Derbyshire. UK overall is beautiful but parts of it are flat, some parts are mountainous, other parts have lakes or moors. To me Derbyshire has the best balance of it all. Ranges of hills, small enough to climb, but big enough to impress. Rock formations, winding streams  and rivers.

Been around Europe, but for me, Derbyshire still takes it.

Why is this awkward to admit -- because I am from the neighbouring county !!  :-[

I'm gonna give my nomination to the isle of arran just off the west coast of Scotland. They call it Scotland in miniature, I like to think its the very best bits of Scotland in miniature. Stunningly beautiful and tranquil though can get a bit touristy in the summer

I have never been to Derbyshire or the west coast of Scotland.

I think i will add Bavaria to my list. Not Munich but the parts in the mountains.

The Lake District for me. Lakes, mountains and forests.
Tonight, as you stare at the ceiling again
With your lover turning away
Disappointment closing in
Like the walls... and you try...
You try to talk about love
And they put their arms around you
But you still feel all alone
Wonder why...

For me it has to be the West coast of highland Scotland; rugged and harshly beautiful in the main but with tiny secret white sandy beaches.  There are also eagles, seals, whales etc to see.

A close second comes the area I live in, mid Wales.

Got to be Iceland - almost everywhere is stunningly beautiful there and very different from anywhere else in the world (that I've been to, at least). Close second is Norway (the fjords especially, but not only), followed by the Highlands of Scotland.

My all time favourite place is the Roman fort on the Hardknott/wrynose pass in Eskdale, Cumbria.  Walking across the site to the drill ground leads to a vantage point overlooking the valley below.  To the right is a rugged, V shaped valley; bleak, harsh landscape, untouched by human hand.  To the left the valley is a glacial U Shape; it is green, lush pastures, bordered by dry stone walls, a road winds along it and there is a much gentler, softer feel to it.  I just love the contrast, and also viewing it from such a remote place.  Makes me happy :)

ETA: And I say this having been fortunate enough to visit some truly spectacular places in the world... Himalayas, Inca Trail and Machu Picchu, Anti-Atlas mountains and Sahara desert...

Danali National Park.  One road in and you have to park miles away from the start of the trails.  You hike a thousand feet up and you can't get lost after that.  Some dangerous spots for folks without skills, like myself, but a great place to just take in the world.

For me it's got to be south Snowdonia.More specificly the 5 mile winding road from Llanbedr up to Cwm Buchan Lake.Slightly biased cos I live in the area but I've travelled a bit and come back here.As beautiful as Scotland but without the midges ;D

I have to go with the Western Highlands of Scotland and Isle of Skye. Just indescribably epic !  Elsewhere in the UK, Snowdonia in North Wales has always been my favourite place. The rest of Wales is beautiful too. And the Lake District is possibly England's most picturesque corner.

Lake Garda and the Dolomite mountains in northern Italy is also right up there. Just gorgeous.

Excellent choice !  It's fantastic there isn't it. Just had a week in the Lake District a couple of weeks ago for the first time since previous visit in 2006. Visited the fort in 2006, but didn't stop there this time. Did however do the drive over Wrynose and Hardknott on the way to Wasdale. Quite an adventure driving over those passes, and I love the valley in between thems. On another day we also drove over the pass between Great Langdale and Little Langdale, and turned left at the bottom to go through Little Langdale, which is where we had previously stayed in 2006 in a little cottage. Don't know if I'm going soft in my old age, but I got quite emotional going through Little Langdale again ! The memories of staying there 9 years before came flooding back. What a simply lovely place that is !
