A while back, I posted that I would leave my home and job to travel permanently. I have done that and it's much better.

I have lived and volunteered in a working dairy farm in county Tipperary, Cleaned the home of a crazy(and I say that in a kind way) Irish family, Cleaned a filthy (Understatement, a chicken lived in the house and shit all over) home of a hippy family in the Netherlands, cooked in a cafe on a Uk Island. Now, Clean, cook and tear up tiles on bath room floor and paint  in the home of a nice African/english couple in Devon.

Next will be help teach english at a camp in Warsaw, Then work on a Polish farm, Then clean and make beds in Romania.

I would say it's finally reached the point where it's more of a lifestyle than holiday. I am planned up until Christmas.
It can get lonely when you meet people on the road and then move on to the next home. I also think going to live with strangers takes a lot of trust and probably a hint of madness. I have had some bad experiences. Experienced some exploitation.

What even is the point of working one steady job again?  Why do people think that's the only choice?
And the university thing?
Where I'm from is not my home, and neither's where i'm bound.

Horses for courses! A steady job with a steady income and somewhere to live is for some people the security they need! If this works for you, then great!

What do you mean by the University Thing?
Whose binkin shout is it?

Oh my! I found at least 4 mistakes in that one sentence. ;-)

Well statistically you are probably going to earn more, there is one reason. As you can build a career. Doing lots of more basic jobs is fine, if you don't want to put any roots down.

People don't think it's the only choice, many people work a number of jobs. However if getting a home, stability and most important having kids is what you want and lots do, then your way is probably not the way.

Amandastan, Im happy that your new life suits you...

...but not to put a downer on things, it can come back to bite your ass later in life. I've got a decade and a bit on you.   I've lived my life in a very casual way, going where the wind took me, not to the extent you did, but I never 'settled down' to use an expression I hate.  I don't regret it much, I've had some fantastic times that my more 'settled' pals will never experience.  To be fair, I did 'join the workforce' for a while and looked forward to a bright future...that secure, leading-to-better-things existence a few years ago is now gone thanks to UK politics and layoffs (but that's another debate) and now I'm the wrong side of 40, hard-up, making less money than I was in the 90's and just trying to keep a roof over my head...

Again, I regret not much! Some amazing times! But 'why would anyone work one steady job again'?  A comfortable lifestyle is something you might want to think about a few years from now...

But, heck, enjoy it while it lasts!
Rah! Rah! Rah! We're going to smash the oiks!

I think its more a case of what life throws at you, the cards that we are dealt or deal to ourselves. Personally I think its excellent what you are doing I wish I had the chance or the courage to do it when I'm was younger.
Personally I was a dad at 19 and that takes away alot of travelling opportunity's and yes I could have been a bastard and walked away though I think I would have been dead or in jail long before now. Don't get me wrong I love my daughters more than anything and don't have any regrets.
Life now well I guess I live in a comfort bubble I don't have the best of jobs but it suits me and I like it and I get by the rent gets paid, I have food in the fridge and enough clothes etc and I get to have the odd luxury.

Life live your way none of us can tell you what is right and what is wrong. If your happy we are happy for you

Blame the American Education system. It has failed me. I won't be teaching them to write but correct their english.

I don't want kids. I am not settled enough for them to be happy. I think it would hurt the kids and that's not fair to them.
