Sadly, whenever we used to put stage times up on the noticeboard and elsewhere, it was increasingly noticable that there were some people who used it to completely ignore the support bands and come in at the last minute to the show. This is of course is their choice but it's such a shame: there have been some very good bands on before NMA - and in this time of reduced media exposure and record sales bands starting out do really need to play infront of people to get anywhere at all. Not only is it how they learn their trade and but how we, as fans of music, get to possibly see a great band at the start of their career, before we have to pay enormodome prices for a plastic cup of beer in some windy stadium watching a tv screen from 2 kilometres away. For instance thats how I first saw Nirvana i.e. supporting someone else...
We have therefore only put up the doors opening time for recent gigs, except in exceptional circumstances when the show times have been early due to an early club etc. I propose to continue this practice. NMA will be on at the usual time in Mainz after the support band ;-)
Mainz
Doors: 19.00
Later: support band
Later still: NMA
PS.
NMA are actually on at 21.00... Err... Allegedly... Err... You didn't hear it from me right?! Nod's as good as a wink and all that malarky...
