Happy 35th birthday Rock City !!!!

Like New Model Army, Rock City came into being in 1980. 35 years ago today Rock City opened its doors, the first act, The Undertones. Some great acts have taken to the stage over the years including NMA,David Bowie, Nirvana, Oasis, Jane's Addiction, and countless others, many appearing there in their early days before making it big.

My very, very favourite venue EVER and God knows, I've been to a few in my rapidly advancing years...

What I love about it is the way it's set out so even though it's about 1500 capacity, if you're near the back you're not all that far from the front... you'll know what I mean if you've ever been there.

I did use to love the 'rock nights' they used to have every Saturday night... used to travel over 100 miles to make those ones and then sleep in my car at the big multi-story over the road... I believe it's not like that anymore...

Me to. From the late 80's till mid 90's. Wonder if we ever bumped into each other, literally on the dance floor back then. Although I was more local than you, you were not alone having a rough nights sleep. Back then before the days of late buses, I used to kip down on any old floor that would have me then bus it back in the morning.

P/S, saturday night was "alternative" night. Friday night was Rock night. (and capacity is 2450 )
