What makes a good day at newmodelarmy.org for you?
« on: December 16, 2015, 09:05:18 PM »
Personally, I like it a lot to read the chats here. Sometimes I think what's the spice that makes this forum so special and the best I've ever been to. Of course it's one of the best bands the forum is connected to but besides that it's also so nice to hear from you all people. There're people around the globe in here, but still only some of us have ever met in real life. And still you may feel that "oh, I think I'm getting familiar with this person somehow; I'm slowly getting to see how he/she thinks about things..." It's so simple, but still so nice.

So what's the thing that makes the day for you in here? What makes up a thread you'd think it lacks nothing?

For me I feel it's nice to see posts by you all but there are also especially some regular posters that I like the way how they enter in to the talk. (Please, if you don't mind could we use the names in here and not to take it seriously.)
Well, while Master Ray has wise and profound views about life and acts solidarily when needed, there could be Idopas next bringing her experience about having a firm from another point of view and reminding how to keep sane in life, Anna bringing down the doors at Tescos, and then there's Shush or Pol giving a lol and having a chat about e-cigs and getting to a train in time, and then we maybe get Amandistan telling about her travels and making a statement. Next it's Chtulhu marching in alongside Tariq and Pumpkin to start an intellect topic or two, while Ron B drops in a song with sunglasses on and mumbling something about e-spliff and international mystery-man Heno says he resides at the downstairs of the board and Huwcamden tells about talking to a NMA answering machine fan club in early 90's... (Not in any particular order)

Lol, I love you all.

Awesome thread idea!

'Wise and profound views' from myself?  Rusco, I'm just posting whatever silly shit comes into my head at any given moment and I do it because the folks here are more in synch with my mind and general outlook on life than most of the people in my 'real life'.  An idea confirmed by how many people I met in Nottingham last weekend who I had lovely chats with and truly look forward to seeing again.

I really love hearing from everyone here and a good night for me is logging onto this Forum and seeing many posts to respond to... I usually log on in the early evening, respond accordingly and then leave my laptop open whilst I watch a film or read a book or whatever, getting back to people as and when... as I'm doing right now.

This is the only internet Forum that I have any love for. Mainly for the people you mention... and also for the way it is run, ie abuse of any kind is NOT permitted (which so many other internet sites descend to, and in truly nasty ways) and that is obviously down to a certain person who shall remain hidden behind the initials VS...  :)

I love it here.

Its good sometimes to have a rant n let off a bit of steam and will agree with what ray said that you do feel connected to the people here than you do the ones you meet face to face in every day life, they don't get it why the fck would rusco for example travel all that way to see a band. There also many subjects and topics that bond us together ok our views might differ sometimes but wouldn't life be crap if we all agreed.
Well what I like your posts rusco is that your life is so different in many ways mainly due to where you life and some of music you like is really hardcore , bands I've never heard of sometimes you think what the fck was that, others wow that's really good.
Does any other band have anything like this, if so I've not seen it

There’s this man on the stage and he has a band
we’re looking at them with eyes full of wonder ‘cause we are all his children, vagabonds with pulses raging, looking for family looking for tribe
so i want to dance with this fire 'cause its all that i know
and i wont ask stupid questions, it’s a wonderful way to go
he doesn’t want a mirror, no shadow, we’re loyal holding on
it seems strange to write these things now, it’s funny how this feeling stays with all the reasons gone
but it doesn’t matter what i say
we’re old, we’re young, we’re in this together
a strange brotherhood with lovesongs always playing for the sisters when they’re far away
and down at the union we stood, embraced like brothers should
if I could save you I surely would
but the monkeys and zombies banging war drums, the center cannot hold
here comes the war, we’re the ones who knew everything still we did nothing
screaming loud we’re not at war
bad harvest upon us so in the big blue we shall loose ourselves and gone are the doubts and fear of falling, we found a quiet place to shed our skins, cause we won’t need it anymore
face into the wind, take all the holy books and burn them, drag it down until theres nothing left to look up to in this western dreams, all lies all schemes
but there’s something in our lives that we cannot quite see and we swear we never asked for anything
we love the world, diamonds of sun on the water,
peace is only for the dead and the dying on this angry planet, it’s not personal
so i clean the gun that i'll never use and lay it away
pain is what i live with, i will try and change the subject
i’m young gifted and skinned, but high in the high hills it all looks like nothing
All the things I fear so much depend on angles of vision and as the photographs came they couldn’t see us we were lost against the mountains like specks of dust
So let the whirlwind blow and wake me in a thousand years, I will see you in hell
Nothing touches but his poetry goes deep, far too late to try to sleep now, I’m not tired anymore
I won’t wait for the bell to toll straight on for the days ahead
I love the world

Bless ya Rusco – you been at the christmas drinks cabinet already?  ;D

Impressive  Cthulhu – love it.  8)

You don't meet a NMA fan every day of the week, it's not everyones cup of tea and so we're a scattered bunch from all over the globe seemingly with endless experiences and stories, that's why I like this place. That and the fact that it remains resolutely egalitarian. Don't matter if you you've seen the band a zillion times or never, we're all equally welcome. Folks here are also very accepting and open, there rarely seems to be any of the elitist bullshit zealotry nonsense that appears to be the fate of most social media  ;)

A good day here is one with a few good threads bubbling away with any of us waffling away, hopefully somebody new has chipped in. Maybe  someone posted a new video link, interview or something. I also like seeing new posts in the best/first NMA experience threads. If I'm really lucky and it's a red letter day someone will have posted something good or cheerful down here in the basement…............. Oh and threads like this are in the mix too.

Pol wondered about other bands and similar places. I suspect there is (I wouldn't know, this is the only place I trust myself in  ::)) and that out there somewhere other “venerable” bands who clocked what the internet was going to mean way back in the mists of time set up similar places which cling on, where fans of those bands resolutely cling to the old ways, forsaking the temptations and evils of the “other places”.

I think you are right Rusco, over time you do seem to pick up a sense of who folks are in a simple fashion and it is nice. Then maybe you actually meet folks you know from here and it is a real pleasure. I've been so fortunate in meeting someone I love like a brother and then finding my soulmate  :o

But I do like to share and I love you all too.

I actually like most days on this board - it's fun, interesting, educational to read the thoughts and opinions of people from so many different backgrounds on all sorts of topics - and even if a discussion gets heated, usually, at the end of the day, people will at least agree to disagree. This sort of thing just isn't possible on Social Media - and sometimes not even in "real" life - it's often easier to talk about certain things to relative strangers.

I read more than I post - but I love it on here.

Thank you MARKXE and Anna Woman O Kent and thank you Rusco. I was a bit astonished that you mentioned me along. I have to say that i feel a little bit disturbed and uncomfortable to be mentioned in the same sentence as Pumpking, 'cause we had some struggles here, but this is how it goes.
I like this board and see myself as an impuls driven contibutor. Aa was my try to write some not so intellectual thing as an answer here. I had this in mind, like a poem, becuase i often have lyric bits flaying around my head and just started and after reading it again, i thought i should have given it some more work.
The connection of this board, the band, gathers around some pretty diverse people and that's nice. I like to see the passion for the band makes people want to connect, exchange thoughts and opinions.
though i must say i'm more of a lone wolf. maybe a dog. maybe something in between..
looking forward to dance with this fire around you in cologne

I wont pretend I read every thread but I do find a lot of life experiences on here interesting to read. There are some posters I find have a similar outlook to my own, some I dont. Some I disagree with most of the time, Some I possibly take less notice of than I should. All in all its a bit of a mixed bag. Which makes it all the more interesting. I like the way generally there is a unity here and people by and large are respectful.

I see, I have the exact same thing. I'll tell you; when I'm going for logging or doing some job at our place outside I really go deep into it. I don't want nothing to break my thoughts - I have time to just to concentrate what I'm doing. (The only people who could make a break to it are actually my wife and couple of our neighbours if they'll have something on their minds). But I know they nearly always have something better or more important to do. So, I'm finishing the work at some point and then go inside. Then I probably check the posts and often during a late evening I find myself posting here because it's so nice to hear about something totally different. And it's connected with NMA! None of the persons at my work could'nt see why I do it. Well, my wife for sure knows why as she's a dead-end NMA fan too but... There you go. :)

Ray, depending on being profound, I really think you have lot of guts to this life. You're not mean. You can tell a lot about your past and life. And for an example I appreciate something what you've mentioned in the past like; you're not taking sides and I really appreciate that. ;)

For myself, what I like at the forum is going to see the shop, and all the new awesome things to purchase. At the forum I like the posts whether they're heated or not. I don't have always time enough to reply although I'd like to do it. So, my flaw is that I cannot keep a continuing always enough what I'm saying about. But giving more time before answering is a good thing, I believe.

For Anna, no I have just a too spirited imagination. ;) I really like the way you start new topics, tell about politics, your friend, or whatever.  ;)

Well, I cannot see it in that way. I see what you mean but here we are all together. They were posts in the past and I think it belongs to this forum, somehow. For sure we all react somehow to ongoing things and discuss them here. But that's just the way the life goes on... Wondering the same life we all face everyday!  :)

I have read here chulhu and Pumpking being on either side in debate, but did not see it as an argument or a problem, just that they disagreed on things. Nothing wrong with that.  Its no form of debate if we all think the same thing.

On the Syria issue me and Drummyb disagreed on the benefits of the first bombing raids. He disagreed with me, but it was all completely civil, I respect his opinion because it was informed, just different to mine. If he went down the "bomb the lot of the bastards" rout, I would have thought less of his opinion, but not so. In that issue where people disagree on how to achieve it, I think we all want the same thing -  as people who live in the Western world a way to stop terrorist attacks,  and as human beings want to see Isis out of Syria.

Disagreement is the what makes debate worth while. No point getting upset or offended about people not believing the same as yourself. At the end of the day the most powerful thing you can do is vote accordingly or write to your M.P.

Often in real life when it comes to a situation two people disagree on about something, I tend to take a place in between them and I try to express for both of them what the other person means about. At the same time I can feel both of their feelings. With this way I try to bring them "nearer" each other and try to get them understand the other person. It's sort of an unintentional thing for me I do and sometimes if they're f.e. very heated about their thing they may get confused what's my side or opinion..  :) I'm rather like a filter in between them and hope they'll find some peaceful solution that could satisfy everyone.

Hey this should be fun now not too serious.  ;D Let's everyone have a biiiiig HUG ... ... oooh.

Lol, I love you all.

I do have to say across the pond that I usually drop in at least from my time here in NYC either early morning or mid afternoon now england being at least 6 hrs ahead.  I have to say that part about me is Funny and so true  ;D 8).

Now to get back on topic  What makes a good day at this site that I have now been on for 15 years Holy s##t has it been that long  well I have to say that despite how sometimes views and opinions can get members into serious discussions and rather heated responses I try not to take anything too serious on a board or for that matter any board that I am a member of. People are different and from different places in the world so their life experiences are different plus we have varied generations of fans that like this band that are board members so to me we may have different views on Politics or Religion but what  bring us here is that we all love this band and that is what we share.

The one word I kept reading on here when I 1st came to this board was the word Family that was what NMA fans considered and called themselves and having met the band and members of this board at some of the shows I have to say it is true. so all families have squabbles from time to time and I let those go.

Besides it can get very Funny in here and have me cracking up and laughing my ass off sometimes what some people post in here I try to be cool and just have me shades on Listening to the music. That's my personality and the only way I can keep my sanity. ;) 8)
