Seems as good a time as any...
One of the very, very best rock 'n' roll bands ever. Like so many of us of a similar age, Motorhead were a big thing in my musical development. The late 70's and early 80's were full of vastly different musical genres and ideas. but this hard, nasty, mental thing struck a chord with a lot of us. Mostly through 'Ace Of Spades', their most famous tune and even though it's become a bit of a cliché, one of the best hard rock songs ever.
So many people said 'a lot of the songs sound the same...' well, that didn't hurt the Ramones, did it?

Much of the acclaim and outpouring of love for Motorhead over the last 24 hours seems to focus on what you might call 'the golden era', ie stuff from thirty years ago... please, if you're into this band, check out more recent albums like 'Bad Magic', 'Inferno' and 'The World Is Yours'... every bit as good as the 'old stuff'...
Sadly, I only saw them live the one time. Wolverhampton Civic Hall, about four years ago and DAMN, do I wish I'd made the effort in subsequent years, it's something I truly regret. Not gonna happen now, eh? And that thing about Motorhead being the loudest band on the planet... a reputation truly deserved. I was near the back on the balcony at WCH and, when they kicked in, it was a barrage of sound that you actually FELT, not just heard! Seriously, your clothing was rippling from the sound waves! You think you know what loud live music was like? You know f-all if you never saw Motorhead live!

If you can find some way to watch it, please check out the 'Lemmy' documentary from 2010, trailer here... shows what an interesting, complicated and, yes, 'nice guy' he really was.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRENbQIuoLUSo... it's a sad day for music fans. The word 'legend' gets bandied around, too much these days, for the silliest and slightest of reasons. Lemmy was a musical legend and Motorhead were a legendary band. Just unique. I'm genuinely upset by this news. So let's end my rambling thread with Lemmy playing my favourite Motorhead song, 'Bomber', from just over a month ago...
