Holmfirth, Picturedrome May 6th

as with the lincoln thread: who's going/meet-ups beforehand/ other relevant stuff.
i was toying with travelling to holmfirth after the lincoln gig but a) public transport gets pre-historic after 11pm (especially oop-north) and b)a return to leicester is same as one way so i may as well save on unnecessary accomadation costs.

I'm getting there Friday afternoon & staying for the weekend to catch some of the Folk Festival.  Camping just up the road.  Looking forward to it.  The Nook over the road is a nice little pub.

The doors are allegedly open at 19.30. Of course, this could all be a complete fabrication so please ingest that pinch of salt ;-)

NMA do seem to have a habit of selling out gigs a lot over the last couple of years... is it just me or do they seem to be more popular now than they were, say, a decade ago?

Hope everyone enjoys the forthcoming UK gigs, wish I could make it, can't wait for Nov / Dec!

Good Question that Master Ray re: selling out.....could be a number of factors.....more fans......those fans that may have stayed away for a while to pursue other more pressing matters - family, career....children may have grown up so the parents have more time to pursue former loves.....their children are of an age where they want to know what all that noise was that mum and dad constantly played....the power of the internet and social media...NMA touring on a frequent basis helps and as well as venturing to pastures new they seem to have a good idea of the venues and demographics where they are likely to attract a large crowd - all my amateur musings of course.....

They do seem to be back on form after a bit of the doldrums in the mid 00s - though many of the venues are often smaller than in years gone by. I was quite surprised to discover the picture dome is only 650 capacity - it always seemed bigger

Personally, I love the fact that NMA are playing pastures new and smaller venues (Chester last year springs to mind) when they could do the usual tour of boring Academy venues, get an 80% sell out or whatever the numbers are...

I'd just say that the Christmas gigs are usually a sell out, especially Nottingham, so get on it!
