Yup, that's how I usually feel after an NMA gig...   ;)

I can string a sentence together again...!

What a fantastic gig!  The Picturedrome is a great venue (one of my favourites) and being really small, magnified the intensity, heat and crackle of NMA energy last night - a completely visceral experience.  Lovely crowd too; I met some brilliant people and loved being part of the animal again.  Can't wait for next time xxx

someone cried out subvert and the  people all went  cold.

This was my 7th NMA gig 6th different venue and I have to say it's the roughest mosh pit I have seen (observed from a distance).  100% agree with everything Sheena wrote, the  Picturedome is a brilliant intimate venue.
We always burned brightest when no one was watching.

Forgive my ignorance, how do set lists happen?  Do punters have amazing memories, or is someone furiously writing it all down?  Or is there something else happening?

Getting back to the moshpit thing... I mentioned this on previous posts, but it does seem like NMA pits are getting rather crazy these days, certainly more so than they were in the last few years... a couple of friends, particularly at Nottingham, were saying that things were a bit more violent recently. I have to stay out of 'the pit' these days, thanks to my well-documented (and rather boring now) health problems, but I do remember standing by the sound desk at Notts last Christmas, seeing the bouncers being sent into the pit and dragging a bare-chested fella out who seemed to be rather spattered with blood which didn't look like it was his own and he was complaining 'I thought this was a New Model Army gig...'   ???

As I said, I'm a stranger to the moshpit these days, so I'm happy to be corrected and mean no offence to anyone.  Just commenting on what I've heard from others...  ???

Holmfirth was very "bouncy" but I'm new to this, so no idea how it compares...

I suppose the moshpit is dependent on a few factors. The size of the venue and the crowd are probably the most important. There can be a fine line between bouncy and maybe a bit ott. 99.9 % of people tend to decent and help pick someone up . Was lucky enough to see nma 3 times last year from the really small venue of Edinburgh liquid rooms to the full on experience of Nottingham rock city with the Newcastle gig being somewhere in the middle size wise, would probably say that Newcastle was the tamest.
