NMA in The Guardian

 :o

They have a regular feature called Readers Recommend Playlist, this week the topic was climate change :

", and you can hear the profound sadness in New Model Army’s Ballad, accompanied by a fabulously mournful harmonica:

When they look back at us and they write down our history
What will they say about our generation?
We’re the ones who knew everything still we did nothing
Harvested everything, planted nothing"

Blimey.  Pretty soon, we won't be able to move for hipsters, high on green plankton juice and constantly adjusting their man-buns (the ones on their heads), saying 'well obviously, I've always been into them' before ******* off two numbers in...

And again ............ from todays readers playlist about interlopers:

"And, pushing my luck, I’m going to stay in Bradford to give you the next artist for our list: it’s New Model Army with Higher Wall, an edifice built on greed and fear, which is trying to keep the interlopers out."

Seems we have an insider somewhere on the Guardian staff list  :)

Still waiting for Q magazine, who often choose articles on 'interesting yet forgotten in the mainstream bands' to get around to NMA... they did The Cult a couple of times and, even though I rather like The Cult, nobody could claim that the stuff they're doing nowadays is on a par with what Justin and the lads are doing... and they certainly haven't had the impact that the BDAW album and documentary had... c'mon Q folks, you're missing a trick, new album out in a couple of months, eh?   ;)

they deserve it even tough I am sure one of the reasons why this band kept doing amazing music and intense and honest is because they never managed to get to become so well known or commercial either
