Windows 10
« on: May 24, 2016, 07:56:38 PM »
Any thoughts?

I bought this laptop under a year ago.(not the cheapest it has to be said) It was speedy on Windows 8. It takes minutes to get here now. Sometimes I cant even use the keyboard and have to wait three quarters of an hour. What's that all about?

Blimey, mate, I'm on Windows 7 and I don't have any of these problems.  I'm no techno-wizard, but it sounds to me like it's a hardware problem or an incompatability issue with the new technology you've tried to install... which I guess is sort of the same thing.

Any techno-savvy folks out here?

I`m a kind of techno-savvy  - but without a lot (yes, a lot) of special informations (not here, perhaps pm) there`s no chance (laptop, internet provider, different versions of windows 10)
So better try one of the help forums (google some computer magazines or microsoft forums (or the producer of your laptop for updates you need for win 10 first))

(And I still refuse the hints to update my different versions of win (vista, 7 and 8.1)  - it`s free and I only have to pay with a lot of informations about me and I and myself  >:(

Some Linux fans here - mint or suse or puppy is fine?
And me, I`ve got a black place in my heart
Still got this hole in me
Perhaps - I am the master of nothing?

It's a very fickle mistress, and yes I've chosen my words aptly.

Sometimes I can log on in an instant (such as now) other times I hit and hold the power switch (not advised I'm sure you techy folks) but its the only way to shut this behemoth down'

it comes back to life even faster afterwards.

Earlier I was about removing the Win 10 from my computer, but not anymore. (It's possible to uninstall it even longer than the option is available.) The reason to not uninstall it is because Win 7 & 8 program updates do NOT continue from July.

However, I think that 7 was their best Windows.

My favourite is Windows 98. Knew where everything was and knew how to use it. My PC at work has auto updated to W.10 recently and now I am having constant problems uploading images.  Absolutely hated Windows 8. Its no wonder to me why Microsoft are trying to ditch it by giving W.10 for free

@coumarin
Looked around in some win 10 forums, some laptop users have the same problems, none knows why and the helping answers are rare and none helped all

But most users seem to help this (simple german to english, hope you understand):
Pull out the akku and the power cable (no energy from inside or outside), then press the power switch longer (one minute?), wait a longer time (one or two hours?), put the akku in and connect the power cable in again and start the laptop - most users posted the problems had gone ....

And me, I`ve got a black place in my heart

@ coumarin
win 10 has an autoupdate function, loading down a lot of new and often huge updates without your permission and hidden during the last weeks while you are online, installs them full or only not, because they need a new start - the rest of the installation starts when you start the laptop again and before windows 10 starts - before it`s finshed you can`t do what you want
And if the update doesn`t fit for your laptop and microsoft noticed that some days later, there`s another update for that update - or not ...
Have a look of the webpage of the producer of your laptop - often in the service download forum you find new drivers you have to install for win 10

And as I posted before - without the full and real name of your laptop (perhaps lenovo xyz 3355 or hp abc 9999)
and your version of win7 it`s hard to find/post more links

Thanks for the info and advice Lotus.

It sounds odd but it went slow.....very.....slow.... again. for a while, it even took 15 minutes to move the mouse and the blue swirly thing to decide what to do.

It's working pretty well today (which happens for a day about once a week) So I grasped the time to come on here.

It must be a compatibility thing. Incidentally when it was going at an acceptable speed I postponed An HP update, which hasn't appeared again and its still (fingers crossed) at the same speed.
