Anyway, saw it today (NO SPOILERS, btw!)) and it's... well, quite different to the original. But I liked it because of that. A lot more sombre and introspective (although there are some very funny moments). But, hey, making a film about people acting the same way they did a couple of decades ago would be ridiculous. These great characters have aged and it was great to catch up with them with all their sadness and regrets. Hmm, why does that strike a chord?
Quick thoughts... Spud is awesome in it and I found his story slightly more compelling than that of the other characters, even though he's a bit side-lined for a lot of the movie. Diane was a bit shoe-horned into the film, although it's always nice to see the lovely Kelly McDonald. Nobody says the c-word quite like Begbie!

It's a lot less graphic with the sex and violence despite the 18 certificate. I did see the big twist at the end coming, there was a rather obvious and unsubtle hint. And, after other discussions on this thread, I really liked the soundtrack, a couple of bands on there that I must investigate... in fact, 'Shotgun Mouthwash' by High Contrast is the 'Born Slippy' of T2, check it out, really like this track...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPFtDcFNpV8So, it's far from perfect and it'll never catch the public imagination like the original did. I got the impression from fellow film-goers that some of them weren't impressed. But if you liked the original like I did, you know you want to see it. To use the vernacular from crap TV 'talent' shows, it's a yes from me.
Very interested in what you lot think of it...
