Xmas Rock City Saturday gig
« on: December 11, 2016, 02:35:44 PM »
Well, last night for the fifth year in a row we had a Saturday night double set by the band. Superb performance from beginning to end. Started off with a couple of solo acoustic songs by JS , then joined by DW on electric. I've heard JS refer to Dean as a frustrated guitar player before, and he can well and truly play.  The rest of the band joining them one at a time giving a different spin on the normal full band set. Second set, as ever a flawless performance. Personal highlights, JS acoustic "Better Than Them", full band, "Beginning" and "High". For me these days the run up to Xmas wouldn't be the same without the Xmas Rock City Saturday gig.

Thanks to LCG for another fine after show at Spanky's

Well, after all these great NMA gigs, I suppose it was inevitable that one day we'd have one that was an absolute pile of... oh, hell, I can't finish that sentence with a straight face.  Of course it was bloody excellent!  Yes, the Weather Gods did their usual trick of turning us into soaking wet, shivering scraps of humanity in the queue beforehand (which is odd, seeing as it was quite dry and mild earlier...) but met some lovely folks in the queue, so if they're reading this and found themselves talking to a bit of an idiot beforehand... that was probably me.   ;D

Set list, according to Setlist.com

SET 1

Better Than Them
Higher Wall
Lights Go Out
No Greater Love
Into the Wind
Strogoula
Stranger
Beginning

SET 2
Winter
White Light
Weak and Strong
Part the Waters
Fate
Devil
Angry Planet
Born Feral
No Rest
Autumn
Stormclouds
51st State
Family
Bad Old World
Wonderful Way to Go

 Encore 1

Christian Militia
Between Dog and Wolf
Poison Street

Encore 2

Get Me Out
High
I Love the World

Sounds mostly right, but do I remember it wrongly that there was another track between High and I Love The World?  I might have been a bit 'refreshed' by that point.

Whatever, another fantastic Notts Xmas gig.  Justin said that we should re-convene next December, all I can say is 'Hell yeah, when the tickets gonna be on sale!!!'

 :D

Ok. In my usual huge crash to earth after Nottingham, just gotta say big thanks to MR, and Mr and Mrs Shush for good company. Sorry I dipped out early but well, I am an old fart,  best suited to old fartdom  :'( :) .

Also Shush thanks for the beer. One day youll let me get you one!!

Ruckedout...think I spelt that right. Equally. Cheers for the beer mate. Decent kindness from a stranger. If our paths cross again, I owe you too.

Good night, good show, GREAT band.
Hala (from the Anglo-Saxon word "halh", meaning nook or remote valley), until it was gifted by King Henry II to Welsh Prince David Owen and became known as Halas Owen

Good to see you too, sir.  Until the next one...

Here's 'Devil' from last night... could that be our mutual friend 'ruckedout' doing the 'on-the-shoulders-armdance' thing?  Think so, I was a couple of heads to the left!

Couldn't agree more, it's my favourite thing of the year let alone December.
Do we all forget the things that we once knew?
