Bilston set-list...
« on: April 02, 2017, 07:07:41 PM »

Last night in Bilston, it was...

R&R
Winter
Here Comes the War
Part the Waters
The Charge
Angry Planet
Born Feral
Eyes Get Used to the Darkness
No Pain
Higher Wall
Did You Make It Safe?
Burn the Castle
Devil
51st State
Between Dog and Wolf
Wonderful Way to Go

ENCORE 1

No Greater Love
My Country
Green and Grey

ENCORE 2

I Love the World

Fantastic night and, as JS pointed out, it's nice to have a venue that isn't air-conditioned all to heck!  Sweaty as the devils armpit and all the better for it!  And, as drummyb mentioned on another thread, first time ever I've had to enter a venue through the side entrance of a chippy!  Wish I'd met up with a few familiar Forum folks other than DB (I did see jc from a distance, hoped to run into you later, sir, but sorry it didn't happen!) but the gig was a cracker.  Great venue, my first time there and I will return.

Sidenote - anyone try the 'orange chips' in Bilston?  Amazing!  Both DB and some other ex-Wolverhampton dude who we started chatting to on the tram back to Wolverhampton knew what I was on about when I mentioned I'd had a chippy tea earlier...  ;)
Rah! Rah! Rah! We're going to smash the oiks!

MR good to see you again mate.  But seriously. Orange chips. Shhhhh. Its our secret round here. Fair play on remembering the set list!!! I get lost in the music and watching/studying the stage to make mental notes.

Hala (from the Anglo-Saxon word "halh", meaning nook or remote valley), until it was gifted by King Henry II to Welsh Prince David Owen and became known as Halas Owen

Ha! Actually I didn't remember the set list, thanks to setlist.com for that... but the orange chips thing?  I will keep it a secret.   ;)

Vagabondage, if you spoke to a guy in a black Harrington jacket with the WWTG t-shirt on underneath, that would have been me... I did speak to a few people last night...

The orange chips were at a chippy just up the road...

My Country was a lovely surprise.  Can't remember when I heard it last, possibly the 30th anniversary or one of the Nottingham Christmas gigs?  :-\

My guess would be in the late 80s, hence my reaction  ;D

First time i saw them for a while and what a show, totally blown away! winter imo is the best album they have done since high. So good to hear some of the anthems, the charge, 51st state etc, but the highlight of the show was no pain, my favorite song by anyone ever! I really couldn't have wished for more (they can't play enerything) maybe one more encore would have been cool. Lived in Wolves all my life but never been to the Robin, awsome venue and exellent beer prices.

Where was this chippy entrance  on the front street? I went in the entrance of the back street. Anybody in Weatherspoons around teatime and half the band were in there also. Here is a great review from Saturday http://www.gigjunkies.com/band-reviews/new-model-army-under-a-banner-the-robin-2-bilston-west-midlands-1st-april-2017/

Hi Dipple!  Yeah, we deffo had to walk through the chippy (or possibly kebab house) next door to the venue, twas a bit confusing as a first time visitor!

I did run into the band (minus JS) as I was eating my orange chips in the early evening...  ;)

Great review, thanks for posting!  Although they got Poison Street wrong, unless I was especially brain-addled during the first encore...   ;)

No definitely no poison street at Bilston, although I think it got played at the gig the night before in Norwich. Did anybody else think Justin's vocals were not as loud as the rest of the band.

I wondered that, but because I was right at the front and there was no front-fill I assumed it was just due to where I was stood.
