Has JS or NMA inspired you to play and instrument/start a band?
« on: December 21, 2017, 11:56:00 AM »
I have been an NMA fan since I was 13 in the mid 80's, seen them around 70 times. I always wanted to play music but thought "that's what they do" Around ten years ago I finally got a guitar, and learnt to play and write some tunes. I wouldn't have done this unless I had NMA in my DNA or watched JS live as a solo act many time over the years. Anyone else inspired ? was it a particular song or album? acoustic electric? Plus is it wrong to plug my music here? Its NMA inspired bassy post punk. regards KTR.

Never wrong to plug your own music, mate, let's have some links!  We'd love to hear it...

I was in a couple of bands in the 90's, neither of which made the slightest impact... mainly because we weren't very good!  I wouldn't say we were influenced by NMA per se, just our various love of music in general.  I played some pretty basic bass and graduated (somehow) to even more basic lead vocals...  ;D  Rest assured, there is no trace of those bands online, if there ever was I'd have to abandon this forum for sheer embarrassment alone... heck, probably abandon the UK!

But I loved making music with some great friends, bad though it was, and I hope you have as much fun as I did.   ;)

I think as long as long as you make music and you enjoy it that’s all that matters . My band are Skaema we have just recorded our first EP and it’s free on Spotify Apple etc here’s the link at the bottom. We have one review so far which was really positive. Let me know if you get chance to listen. If you like please share. Cheers KTR

There's also an option to listen to songs at Spotify even though you're not a subscriber. It's a free player.

I say definitely yes! I started bands by 1990 and my main influences were therapy?,fugazi, sonic youth, carter usm, nirvana, the clash,adverts,sham69 and of course NMA.But on my first NMA gig it was around Strange Brotherhood era maybe the after SB tour,I was such amazed by the equipment and sound thing. The Gibson sg and the Vox amps suited perfectly on what I wanted. The sound and the comfort of playing.Today I'm not in band anymore but still I enjoy that combination of sg and the vox in my room. And using dunlop picks which some of are used by JS.
