The Week of 1000 Voices
« on: January 12, 2018, 05:42:37 PM »
Malderor and I are coming over from California for the sing a long shows in April. We'll be in town a few days before and after the shows and I was wondering where is the best place to look these days to see what other shows might be happening in London that week. Thanks for any info!

Hello Jeff,

Try TimeOut, I am sure that we can also arrange a dinner or libation at some point.

Cheers

Don't know about shows, check the listings as the above advice in Time Out online. I suspect you'll already be going to the only thing worth being at anyway. Shoreditch for bars and hipsters (a stone's throw from Hackney where the show is) Chinatown for food (in the West End you can't miss it) Victoria & Albert Museum for arts & culture, avoid the Natural History Museum (full of screaming kids) and the British Museum (full of moody students with backpacks) Take a boat trip from Waterloo pier to Greenwich on a Sunday morning and take in the markets the Naval Museum and the observatory.
Avoid the usual tourist bullshit.

I'm thinking there should be an audience rehearsal or some such on Thursday evening.  And by "rehearsal" I mean "pub meet-up."  Or we could all go do karaoke.  Actually, that's probably a terrible idea, as then you'd know what you're in for on Friday.

is there some secret way to navigate the Time Out website to search for gig listings beyond this week? we're in london before and after the 1000 Voices shows and want to see what else is going on that week..... OR is there another site that lists upcoming shows in town?

Myself, Sonia and Paul Rizos are in town from Thursday afternoon so could meet up that evening :)
Is is a crime to believe in something different?

I meant what I said at the time that I said it

Maybe we should sort out a group curry at some point, anyone up for that?

JC - A curry would be good on the Saturday for Me, if not Pork Pie!

Hello Tim, I’m thinking curry and dim sum, not at the same time of course, let’s see how it pans out.

Cheers

Can anybody recommend a hotel not too far away?

Me and my friend will probably arrive on thursday, too, so a meet-up would be fine  :)

We are staying in the Premier Inn Aldgate. It's not close by, but there really doesn't seem to be a lot to stay close to the venue. However Bus 254 goes directly from the hotel to the venue.

Thank you, sounds pretty good. I'll tell my friend who does the booking. Probably see you there!  :)

I've stayed in Aldgate before, a rather uninteresting area IMO, but the transport links are very good so no worries.  Enjoy the night, wish I could make it!
