2019 - 30th Anniversary of Thunder and Consolation
« on: November 15, 2018, 02:20:36 PM »
I wonder if the band have any plans to mark the anniversary of this iconic album?
Maybe a tour playing the same venues (if they still exist) with the same setlists as they did back then?

Now that would be good !!

I couldn't be so bold as to speak for NMA, but they don't tend to be 'backward - looking' (and why would they be, with something as terrific as 'Winter' as their last studio album)... would be a nice thing, though!  ;)

Hey, NMA always like to do the unexpected, so maybe the obvious thing that people might be expecting might become a reality BECAUSE it was so unexpected... if you catch my drift.   :o

You never know with these guys.   ;)

I can't see it happening either. I'm not a big fan of nostalgic album tours. It just makes the set far too predictable. So I'm glad that the band are not fond of them either. And as MR said, why would they, all their recent albums are great IMHO.

I'm hoping for a few more unusual events in the vein of NOATV.

I would imagine that next year the band may start to think about the important soon to arrive anniversary - 40 years of NMA. and as ever, the most important album - is the next one
The longer this century goes on, the more I feel I belong in the last one.

I remember Justin saying - "we do not care much about the past ...." I wouldn't expect anything special on the T&C anniversary. It's iconic but belongs to the past.

One of the beautiful things about NMA is that they don't feel beholden to constantly play old stuff as crowd pleasers. I love the fact that over the last thirty odd years their music has developed and evolved - their new stuff is wonderful, and it's as relevant now as the older stuff was then. I also love the fact that when NMA do play older tracks it's probably just because they enjoy playing the track first and foremost.

Thunder and Consolation IS a cracking album, but I'm delighted to hear that they're already working on a new album.

Beautifully put and I think everyone here will agree with that.  I'll add to your comment that it's great the way that rare tracks keep showing up... I've been to countless NMA gigs and there's always at least one track that surprises me!
