B Side Better Than The A Side
« on: June 02, 2019, 12:55:00 AM »
Not going to include EPs or live versions of older songs as B-sides.

Look below. Do you see any B-sides that were better than their A-side?

I say hands down "Prison" is a far better tune than "Get Me Out."
"Waiting" far better than "Great Expectations."
"Betcha" far better than "Bittersweet"
"Ten Commandments" is a great tune, but fails to make the cut because it is not as great as its A-side "51st State."

Devil - Winter
BD3 - Rumor And Rapture
Queen Of My Heart - Brother - Rainy Night 65
Living In The Rose - Drummy B
Here Comes The War - Modern Times

Get Me Out - Prison
Stupid Questions - Nothing Touches
White Coats - Chinese Whispers
51st State - Ten Commandments
Brave New World - R.I.P.

No Rest - Heroin
The Price - 1984
Great Expectations  - Waiting
The Cause - Fashion
Bittersweet - Betcha

Nice thread, Spacewind.  :)

Hmmm, I can't say one is better than the other, but I will say which one I love more, out of the list given.  Just follow the song titles in BLUE to find out which ones they are.  If the title appears NAVY, that means it was too close a call, but the blue one wins it for me, only by an inch.

Devil - Winter
BD3 - Rumor And Rapture
Queen Of My Heart - Brother - Rainy Night 65
Living In The Rose - Drummy B
Here Comes The War - Modern Times

Get Me Out - Prison
Stupid Questions - Nothing Touches
White Coats - Chinese Whispers*
51st State - Ten Commandments*
Brave New World  VERSION  II (vocal + piano) - R.I.P.*

No Rest - Heroin
The Price - 1984
Great Expectations - Waiting
The Cause - Fashion*
Bittersweet - Betcha

Poison Street - Courage

somewhat embarrassed soft lol, I had to go re-listen to a few of the very old ones (see * above).  I had forgotten them due to listening solely to the newer stuff, these days.  Still love the old songs, don't get me wrong... but there's just an undeniable, exhilarating, electrifying magic / je ne sais quoi, in the newer material (particularly from the album 'Carnival' onwards).  Either way, I love all of 'em.  Oooo, can hardly wait for the new record, 'From Here', to drop!!  It's just a little over 2 months to go, now!  Woo-hoo!!  :D

Always thought that Courage just has the edge over Poison Street.

Damn, I forgot to put that single on my above list.
And, yeah, "Courage" is a better B-side than its A-side.

Agreed, always loved Courage but Poison Street is an all time favourite, too. Possibly my favourite A/B side combo together with Here Come The War/Modern Times.
