Manchester tonight and Birmingham tomorrow
« on: November 22, 2019, 05:01:04 PM »
Copy/paste from Facebook.. for those who don't go there..

We are sorry to announce that we have been forced to postpone our shows in Manchester tonight and Birmingham tomorrow. Michael Dean has developed serious blood clots in his left leg and has been advised under no circumstances to play. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience, especially for people who have traveled a long way.

Thanks to our promoter we have already been able to schedule the shows to early January - Birmingham Fri 10 Jan and Manchester Sat 11 Jan. Tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled dates. Anyone unable to attend the rescheduled dates should contact their original point of purchase to request a refund.

Best wishes for Michael
And perhaps it`s better to cancel the Christmas gigs now and play some more special 40-years-gigs next year ...
And me, I`ve got a black place in my heart
Still got this hole in me
Perhaps - I am the master of nothing?

Just a thought... if the Christmas gigs do get cancelled (obviously, I hope not and there's nothing to indicate that it will be the case), I suspect others will be in the same boat as me, non-refundable hotels and transport... we could still have a fun pre-Christmas meet?   ;)

oh dear, that's kind of shocking news! best wishes and a good and most important full recovery for michael.

i'm with lotus, better to cancel gigs if the recovery is not fully done until then and be patient before in danger of risking health. i wouldn't want him to be fixed up by doctors like some professional sports guys get dealt with, painkillers, syringes and more to be made fit, to keep the show going. but i also think they are not that kind of people and can deal with the pressure of not wanting to disappoint audiences and fans.

good thought there master ray. it would always be possible to meet and sing some songs together in a pub, storm a disco and demand the dj to play nma the whole night and dance with this fire that is all that we know...
ever tried. ever failed. no matter.
try again. fail again. fail better.

I forgot Istambul 30.11.19 - perhaps better not to fly there?
Blood clots are not a kind of a joke :(

Yep.
Me and Mr Landells are still going up to Brum this afternoon because he splashed out on a hotel room for us. Normally I drive there/back but because this would be the 2nd time this week so we were (are) going to stay over and have a mooch about on Sunday.

I/we will prolly have some sort of NMA symbol about our person and will say "Tut, shame innit?" to any we see similar.
Whooosshhhh !!!

I wish Michael Dean a very speedy recovery indeed. Blood clots are not to be taken lightly. Get well soon!

The band was absolutely brilliant in Chester recently. The new album is also great. The current tour is a lovely mixture of old and new.

I agree, a speedy recovery we all hope for!

Also Pumpkin, how are you my friend? We have a history of being accused of being the same person as our views are often in sync!  :)

Master Ray,

It is the idea that a few of us have decided

I'm still going to Istanbul this weekend, even before Justin announced he would play a solo gig on the Sat night

Even if the other shows are cancelled I'm still going to Amsterdam, Koln and Notts as are a few others are

We al have leave, hotels, flights etc booked

We will just have to wait for any news

Cheers

Cool, mate.  Plenty of time to decide what exactly to do if the worst case scenario happens.

Hey, Shush, if you're reading this, remember that big Nottingham pub tour thing you did for me three or four years ago (which was great)?  You might have a few new customers for that!   ;)

Absolutely - although I hope not,, in as much as I hope it will be NMA service as usual for Rock City.  Maybe the band are planning in case Michael is not well enough for a stand-in such as last time. There may still be enough time for a guest drummer to learn a set list. We will have to wait and see.
The longer this century goes on, the more I feel I belong in the last one.
