Not exactly 'films I'm watching right now' but another website I'm somewhat active on asked me for my favourite films of 2024 and after much deliberation (I had 26 movies I really loved from last year that almost made the list!) so many of these have you seen?  Or even heard of?   ;D

1 - Furiosa - A Mad Max Saga

2 - Hundreds Of Beavers

3 - The Substance

4 - The Iron Claw

5 - The Holdovers

6 - Kneecap

7 - Maxxxine

8 - The Outrun

9 - Late Night With The Devil

10 - Civil War.

Well, that new version of 'Nosferatu' is just superb, great cast playing absolute blinders throughout, the cinematography is magnificent, it's just a terrific horror movie.  Can't recommend it highly enough!   :D

Holy crap, if you've got Netflix then get onto 'Adolescence', just watched the first two episodes and it's the best show I've seen in years...

Binge watching ''This City Is Ours'' BBC1 about Cocaine smuggling family/associates in Liverpool...some critics comments have been a bit sniffy (pardon the pun)...but i am really enjoying it.

Gotta be honest, if I'm going with UK gangland TV shows then I'll stick with Gangs Of London... S3 is showing right now but seeing as it's been two years since the last series I gotta rewatch S2, my memory isn't good enough these days!   :-[   ;D

'The White Lotus' is one of those shows that shows that is something of a cultural phenomenon over the last few years, never watched it but binge watched the first series over the Easter weekend, what a bloody great show it is.  Very glad I caught up with it and really looking forward to the rest of it.

I had a fun time with 'Havoc', Tom Hardy's new action flick now on Netflix.  It's a new one from Gareth Evans, a welsh film director who somehow found himself in South Korea directing two of the greatest action films of all time, 'The Raid' and 'The Raid 2' and then did the first series of 'Gangs Of London'... so you can imagine that this one isn't about delicate issues between emotionally repressed British people who never do anything more exciting than raising a cup of tea.   ;)

Hardy (playing a mumbly action hero again) is a cop in debt to a gangster / now powerful and respectable businessman type after doing favours for him in return for cash and is forced into finding the gangsters son when the lad is implicated in a mass murder robbery and finds himself fighting off both Chinese mafia assassins and some fellow bent cops who are in the same pursuit.  If you're familiar with Mr Evans previous work it'll be no surprise that this a hugely violent film (nobody's dead until they've had at least a dozen bullets in them and they've decorated the ceiling with their blood!   ;D ) but if you know what you're getting into then it's a pretty cool flick.  Here's the trailer, be warned, it's not family friendly...
