Here's a review on another site another forum with NMA threads...:

https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/new-model-army-carnival-redux-release-date-nov-27-2020.996965/#post-25457455

This is my first full album back to back A/B review, it will be short and sweet..because, this redux edition up against the original recording is night and day.

Essentially, the full power this recording has is what it deserved in the first place, it sounds fuller and I can feel the passion that NMA are known for, whether live or recorded.

The track order has changed slightly, the four 'new' tracks fit perfectly and seamlessly into this running order.

I've been on the NMA journey since 1983 and it was this album that made me think that they had their best years behind them, I was wrong..if you're reading this, you know why.

Overall, this redux does not disappoint, it's a massive improvement as far as I'm concerned.

I'm interested in any forthcoming views on this redux edition.

Mmmh, I assumed I had the whole file (name is nma_-_carnival_134928417) but when I tried to download just now I also just got the coverart. Sorry about the confusion, should have checked.

I ordered together with the online-ticket for the anniversary show and another CD and my order still says "awaiting online ticket". That other CD arrived a few weeks ago, though (another order that has been shipped 2-3 weeks ago hasn't gotten here yet, so getting slightly nervous there).

Only the lp is offered with a download ...
I`ve ordered the ticket and the link was here - the shop says, awaiting online-ticket ....
But the normal mail from the shop, that my cd has been shipped, it`s not here  ???

None of us  here seems to have the cd or lp, only saille in france has the lp without a download-link?

And an amazon.de trader offers a used one for 48 € (perhaps without having a brand new one `til now) ....

I hope the shop-members haved solved their health problems NMA mentioned a while ago

I must admit that I was skeptical when I heard of this. For one, I totally love Carnival as it is so I'm in the 'doesn't need fixing' camp. I'm also not sure if I agree with the concept of tinkering with previous releases. It's a bit like photo-shopping the spots off your teenage photos. That being said, I tried to approach this project with an open mind and after a few listens I concur with most people (in Facebookland) that it does indeed sound very good. At the same time I can't say that it I prefer one version over the other. There are some exceptions (I prefer the original versions of Bluebeat and Another Imperial Day). I haven't been able to play this on a decent stereo yet so maybe that will sway me. Oh and I love the full band version of Stoned, Fired and Full of Grace but I'm not sure if it belongs here and it will take some getting used to the new running order but I can see that it works.

I was always surprised at how unpopular Carnival was with so many people. Now I am a bit surprised how much people prefer the new version to the original. I think they're both great in their own different ways. Anyway, if it makes people appreciate this great album more then that can only be a good thing.

Got mine today. Love the Tshirt...halfway through the album now. Like Johnz said, I wasnt sure it needed changing, but it is actually quite good and the tweaks in mixing do make a difference. Is it better, no....but it is equally as good with a different listening experience.
Bravo everyone involved.

But I still cant stand LS43...SORRY :-\ :'(

Mine is here now, too :)
Second listening and I like it, the sound seems to be clearer (?), and the 4 extra ones are worth enough for me for having ordered it ...

I also got my album and T-Shirt yesterday.  :)

Agree with Lotus, the sound is clearer and a bit more direct. R&R and One Bullet have always been favorites of mine and hoefully they make it on the setlist of some soon to be held gigs.

For me, the Redux version of the album is a definite improvement. Was ist absolutely necessary? Maybe not. Was it worth it? Absolutely!

Haven't got it yet due to low cash, but I have to ask... is the version of 'Stoned Fired And Full Of Grace' a full band version or an acoustic one?

It's a full band version.
