Popular beleif is that this song is about gangs of kids from Caistor and Market Rasen in Lincolnshire meeting up to fight each other

Bernie Taupen, Elton's songwriter is from Snitterby which is fairly local to the area

I used to go to live and go to school in Caistor and yes we hated the Market Rasen lot but wasn't involved in any scraps as this was before my time :) :)

Alright - Supergrass.  Not my fave from this excellent band (who did much better stuff afterwards) but this one takes me back to 90's indie disco's, the days when it was effortlessly to be skinny (no matter what you ate or drank) and anything seemed possible...  :-\
