Not sure why, though, but the songs are just more potent, profound, when taken in on those kinds of days.
Long time fan.  Glad they're still around, touring and making music.

While I'm on about fantastic bedtime and rainy day listening material... this song is without question, one of the TOP, for sure!  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, everything about this astonishing, genial, gorgeous, seminal, melancholy, too often over-looked and passed upon, NMA track!  Mr. Sullivan's vocal is to die for... so sensitively executed, profoundly heady, beautiful, hushed, tender, sweet, and soft as down (as in feathers).  The drums are superbly subdued, as well.  The keys, ohhh, the keys in this song in particular are ethereal and dreamy.  And the lyrics are quite melancholy, sorrowful, dark, but not pitch-black, if that makes any kind of sense.  One of my absolute favourite NMA songs, ever!  We need more NMA songs that possess these radiant qualities, that give us the 'feels' like 'Rainy Night 65' exquisitely and effortlessly does.  I have dreams of hearing this one played in a live intimate setting, a JS & DW gig or something.  Who knows, maybe someday they'll dust it off, resurrect it once more.  x

Major Beck fan, here.  He's one of those artists, that when he releases an album, I'm making sure I purchase it.  Just like NMA, he never ceases to amaze and astonish me and, is getting even better and better, as time by.  Haven't been let down yet.  I've loved every album, thus far.  He's also quite the prolific songwriter / artist.  Beck's approach and ideas are always fresh and often quite ahead of their time.  Haven't seen him play live yet.  But hope to at some point.  And his videos are pretty awesome, too!  Great artist!
