I've been listening to this cat's album "Wasteland, Baby!" since it came out earlier this year.  Arrived a few years late to the party, but am thrilled I didn't miss the boat altogether, before it was too late.  Hozier's definitely one artist to watch out for.  Extremely promising and gifted songwriter!  He's on my list of artists I make it a point to purchase everything he officially records and releases.  Haven't been let down yet.  He's among my top 10 favourite lyricists, still living today.  Still, he's not my number one though.  Y'all can take a wild guess at who that man (also from Quaker roots) is... if you haven't sussed it out for yourselves yet.  8)

Depeche Mode are another band who I make it a point to purchase all their full-length recordings / albums.
Still love them, though they lost a bit of an edge when Alan Wilder left.  Still great, just different, now.
Can't put my finger on it, exactly, but their albums aren't as strong and cohesive as they used to be,
prior to Wilder's exit.  Or, maybe it's just my perception, impression... someday I'll figure it out.
Really hope Alan Wilder returns at some point, as it's just not the same band without him.

Another of my all time favourite Who tracks, that also happens to be written by my favourite member, bassist John Entwistle.  Nothing against Roger Daltrey, but John sang this one better.  Phenomenal band, were the Who.  Each member a master at their craft.  NMA is the only band that I think came even a hair close to the spirit, passion, thrill, bite, angst, electricity, appeal, as The Who is/was to/for me.  The Who remain THE band I measure every other band up to and were, hands down, my favourite band from the 1960s.  Too bad I was born decades too late, 'cause I never got to see the original line up play live.  Their stuff stills holds up, after ALL these years... and that's something that deserves to be treasured, admired, praised, for sure.  Love 'em.  x

From one of THE best albums of all time, and a masterpiece at that, as far as I'm concerned... "Henry's Dream".  Nick Cave is an astonishingly gifted lyricist.  Mr. Cave is on my list of top 5 favourite living lyricists.  What a prolific and phenomenal storyteller!  How the fcuk the man remembers all those lines, 'cause a lot of his songs are pretty long and wordy, is a complete mystery to me.  Nick doesn't skimp on lyrics or waste words when he writes, and I fcukin' love that!!  I think to tell a really great story, sometimes, you really need to get the words in there.  After all, if a picture is worth a thousand words, than surely a thousand words, paints at least some corner of that same picture, no?  Well, that's what I believe anyway.  Mr. Cave is yet another artist of whom whose works I make it a point to purchase, regardless of whether I've heard anything from the album or not... he never disappoints.  Incredibly rich, wonderful stuff, even if extremely dark and heavy, most of the time.  x
