Clogs in the Rain.
« on: April 20, 2012, 05:23:33 PM »
Is it ok to wear clogs in the rain? Thought for some reason this would be the best place to ask  ;)

I suspect mine probably will too. Would it damage the wood?

I imagine rain existed before clogs so would assume clog makers anticipated precipitation  ;)

Mine don't leak but the steel horseshoes on the heels are griplessly lethal when walking on wet surfaces!

I used to seal mine with candle wax as far as I remember.

I still fancy a pair of reconditioned paras if the shipping to Germany wouldn't so expensive :P ::)

Although I have to say, that the last pair (derby clogs) I bought (2000) were of rather poor quality :-\

Irons are for men, is all young Southern lad. =)
I've always treated mine to a good coat of Dubbin in black or nuetral either or. Seals most leak issues. The wooden soles are fine as long as you let them dry naturally. Don't put em on a radiator or something stupid and all is well even if they get soaked through.

Thanks all. I've treated them with neats foot and then a final coating of mink oil to waterproof them but was just worried about the wood. They are super comfy   :)
