Bats are very cool ! My girlfriend and I once stayed at a campsite near Robin Hoods Bay in North Yorkshire, and there was a footpath that had numerous trees on both sides. In the evenings there were so many bats swooping around there - we could stand a couple of feet apart and have them flying between us. It was great, and we nicknamed the path "Bat Alley" ! Whenever we're staying somewhere new on holiday, we always look out for them on Summer evenings. I remember a few years ago, one Spring day, around midday looking out into the back garden, and seeing something which at first glance looked like a brown leaf fluttering down from a tree, until I realised it wasn't just falling but flitting about. There were also lots of little swarms of dancing gnats and things about and I saw that it was a bat actively hunting them, which was very unusual to see in daylight. I took it to be a bat that had just woken up from hibernation and was feeling very hungry !!
