Bad Harvest - meaning?
« on: August 27, 2013, 07:24:15 PM »
Hi
Does anyone know what specific events are referred to in the song Bad Harvest from Today Is A Good Day?
Cheers

my guess would be it was aimed at the banking crisis, as with nature/agriculture there are times of plenty and times of shortages (bad harvest), as with the recent global boom & bust.

Yes I think you're right - it was the reference to La Muerte that was confusing me...

that's "day of the dead" isn't it? - probably some poetic-ness about the bad financial harvest - i also think the song says you should prepare for bad times during the good times

I've killed more than I could eat, I live in a house filled with bones

The author has participated in the gluttony, isn't above it.

This is one of my favorite songs off the album.  I really dig its dirty guitar sound.

I can only echo the previous posts...I reckon La Muerte parades through the capital streets is a reference to the financial 'death'. TThe reference to witchhunts to me implies the search for scapegoats...."blame anyone but me!" It's a good analogy if so. I've thought for a while that it's the standout track, musically and lyrically on the album.
