Lately I've seen some really great gigs, but two top them all, one was Amy LaVere and Will Sexton playing in Buoni Amici, a small beach bar in Umag, Croatia, and the other one was Thurston Moore Band in KIno Šiška in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Both gigs were truly fantastic, each on it's own way!

Just got back from the Sisters of Mercy in Leeds.

Utterly shite, as usual - but I ******* loved it!!!

There was a good cross section of material from the Reptile House and all 3 albums.  Highlights for me were Ribbons, Alice, Valentine (scary as **** - Von gets more menacing with age) and Dominion/Mother Russia (despite Eldritch disappearing during the 2nd verse and seemingly forgetting? or not bothering? to sing. Also the dry ice/red lights combo - that always gets me.  Oh, and Von sparking up a fag in the guitar solo.  It's not the same now that you can't locate him in the dry ice by his glowing fag end...

Seeing 'em tomorrow in Manchester... utter shite?  Only time I've seen them previously was in London about four years ago and it was excellent!

It's all relative I guess.  From a band that has managed for 30 odd years with a drum machine, it's not the most accomplished music in the world; and its an odd beast live.  But it's mine and I love it.  Hope you do too and  what's not to love?  Noise, lights, dry ice... Plenty of dry ice.  The atmosphere crackles on your skin and in the words of Von "It's just a feeling I get sometimes"

Fookin' loved it!  Cracker of a set, including some of those elusive unreleased numbers...Jeez, just release these songs already, they're all on bloody Youtube, might as well make some cash out of it, I want to hear properly recorded versions!

Love the way Eldritch deal with the whole 'getting old / don't want anyone to notice' thing.  A - flood not only the stage but the whole place with dry ice to the point where you're thinking you're in some kind of cold sauna.  B - Aim a blinding light show right into the audiences eyes... I swear, there were times where I was thinking 'shit, is there anyone actually on stage right now?'    ;D

As to being 'shite'... yes, I admit, in places they were.  It took me a minute to realise that they were playing 'Vision Thing' and that's the title track from one of my favourite albums!

But it was a great gig in a great venue.  It was also nice to go around to The Thirsty Scholar, a couple of minuts away, to find a great Northern Soul night going on!  Don't mind if I do...  :)

Still love the Sisters...

Me too.  There has always been a lot of dry ice and piercing lighting - it's a Sisters thing; and I know what you mean about recognising songs!  Glad you had a blast; I did too :-)

I saw Kraftwerk which, to me, is seeing my all-time idols. I'm 50 now and have listened to them steadily since David Bowie told me I should back when I was 14. As always Old Chickenhead's musical taste was impeccable. They were kind of what you'd expect. I was also really ill and practically had to crawl to the gig. But this wasn't just anyone - this was Kraftwerk. I'm thrilled I finally got to see them.

Hold on - the Damned are touring with Brian James and Rat Scabies ? Did I read that right ? I'll never forgive myself for not seeing the Stranglers who were like the Beatles to me. The Damned follow close behind and I don't want to miss them again. Any new album ? I loved 'So Who's Paranoid'. Another OT spasm from Unruh. I beg pardon from one and all. I saw 'Brian James' and everything went fuzzy
