Saw Andy Irvine last night, Im guessing most peeps here would be unfamiliar with him.
Here's a clipfrom the mid 70's
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJNcEgTTCXY What Pentangle where to a renaissance of old English folk tunes with a modern twist (at the time), well Andy Irvine would be considered in same breath in Ireland, he continuously pushed the boundaries, mixed folk, trad, jigs, reels, ballads, mishmash of blues & americana thrown in occasionaly, traveled & busked his way around Eastern Europe in the late 60's for a couple of years & more gathering songs, learning new instruments/experiences & soaking it up which had a huge influence on the rest of his career & hence Irish traditional music in general. A master craftsmen & even at 73 years of age it was a privilege to see him live finally.
