I watched The Guns of Navarone the other night and thoroughly enjoyed it.

What a cast: Gregory Peck, Stanley Baker, David Niven, Anthony Quinn and Anthony Qualye plus James Darren and Richard Harris!

I watched that to. Love those old war films. there are a bit far fetched, the Germans are always stereo types who for some reason loose the ability to shoot straight, but they are entertaining films none the less.

Just picked up a complete box set of 'The Comic Strip Presents...', utterly quintessential Channel 4 comedy from the 80's / 90's...

OK, I automatically went to the ones I remember most, ie the 'Bad News' and 'Five Go..' ones, but just watched 'The Bullshitters', which was great.

Any of you got any opinions on where I should go to next?

As for films, I checked out 'Sightseers' on Film4 the other night, which I really liked... from the director of 'The Kill List' my favourite horror movie of the past few years, Ben Wheatley (who is also directing the first two episodes of the next Doctor Who series... looking forward to that!)

Comic strip. That takes me back. Used to like channel 4 80s alternative comedy.

Going to give "the thirteenth tale" on beeb2 a go tonight. Olivia Colman usually performs very well.

Film "the game" later on ITV worth a watch. the story tries to be over complex, and therefore at times is obvious, but its still a good thriller

Got '13th Tale' on record...

LOVE Olivia Colman, a terrific actress... did you check out 'Broadchurch'?  Other than 'Breaking Bad', it was the best thing I've seen on TV this year... a brilliant show.  If you didn't watch it, get hold of the DVD, I promise you, it's a masterpiece...

thought she was great in the film, Tyrannosaur. Great serious, and comedy actor.

Tyrannosaur was ******* heartbreaking.  Deffo check out Broadchurch.  If you thought Miss Colman was great in the former, you'll be letting the best in life pass you by if you don't check out the later...

 ;)

Watched Quantum of Solace tonight with the boys. Probably one of the best Bond films ever.

The Comic Strip series was good. I remember one around the time with Ade Edmonson & Rik Mayall called Mr Jolly Live Next Door. I'm not sure if it was technically a Comic Strip but it stood out in my mind as being brilliant and a bit of precursor to Bottom.

Greystoke, the legend of Tarzan. A more realistic take on the Tarzan story. Good film.

Just watched that myself. I saw that at the cinema when it came out. I think I was about 12. It's a great telling of the Tarzan story.

Now I am watching beeb4, Jimi HendriX, the road to Woodstock.  It truly is mesmerising watching him do his long solo. Where does the guitar end and the man begin. How do fingers move that fast !!

you cant beat a bit of Jimmy X. So sad he died so young. I wonder what other legendary songs would now be so familiar if he were still with us.
