Master and Commander.....an older film and a strange film in a good way. I kinda think it should be part of bigger story and only briefly touches on its characters. Really like it.

I do enjoy Mr Brooker's stuff - nicely balances humour within the dark stuff.

As for Banshee, blimey they do like a bit of rumpy pumpy don't they  Will be starting season 2 in the next few days.

Got the new Sherlock waiting in the wings too but wondering about that one - modern day take goes back to the victorian times, hmmmmmm not sure how that will work.

Anna, just watched the new SHERLOCK... rest assured, it does work, I was actually surprised how easy it was to follow, no spoilers here but there's a single point that might work better for the general public if they knew some stuff about the original SH novels... the word here is 'waterfall'...

BANSHEE... yup, it's a bit naughty, isn't it? Trust me, it gets worse / better.    Series 4, the final one, starts in the US on January 29th, can't wait.  You will NOT regret carrying on with this show, it just keeps getting better...

For my part, just watching THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY yet again, can't say how many times I've watched this utterly brilliant film... it never gets old.  Here's the last scene, probably my favourite ending to a movie ever, do NOT watch this if you haven't watched the whole film...

Yesterday, I finally checked out that new STAR WARS film... I didn't fall for the hype, it was never gonna be a life-changer like the original trio of films that were always and forever embedded in my kid heart (although I'd been looking forward to the continuing adventures of Luke, Han and Leia since 1983...  )

BTW, NO SPOILERS HERE if you haven't seen it yet... and if there are, they are very vague ones, I promise... 



It was a very enjoyable afternoon out at the cinema, no more no less.  A really good sci-fi flick, certainly better than those shitty prequels.  A lot funnier than I thought it would be.  Some great new characters and an enjoyable reunion with old ones.  Kylo Ren is a terrific new villain and Rae and Finn are hugely likeable new 'good guys', can't wait to see what happens to them in the next instalments.  And THAT moment... you'll know what I mean if you've seen this film... I sort of saw it coming but it was still a shocker... no spoilers, please, if you want to respond...   

Well worth a look if you want to go cinema-wards...
