The new legends of monkey. Most of us of a certain age will know the original monkey series. Really enjoying this so far, pays homage to the original but done with better sets n camera work . Still quirky in parts. Only complaint is the actors accents . Worth a go , the episodes are only 30 mins each.

Bit boring for some but I've watched some of the Winter Olympics highlights and now watching the snooker :)
Is is a crime to believe in something different?

I meant what I said at the time that I said it

Death race 4 - beyond anarchy

https://youtu.be/8x8NbwOYaHI

Make up your  own mind , the trailer doesn't do it any favours. Grab a beer/ soft drink n a takeaway n enjoy-  certainly has plenty of action. Some cool modified car (Ok it's not mad max ). Some decent music n cyber punk costumes. If your bored you could do worse

but it's a great sequel to an absolute classic...  :)

Really or is it just cashing in? Didn't wanna spoil the first one by watching something crap if you see what I mean?  ;D

Anna, I'd highly recommend it.  Yes, it's overlong, but it really sticks to the ethos of the original, that whole 'what does it mean to be human, or otherwise' thing.  They could have made an action-heavy remake to get the kids in (although there are a few superbly-directed action scenes), but it's a slow burner.  I don't want to post any spoilers but it elaborates on the concepts of the first one in a brilliant fashion.  Such a shame that it wasn't a big hit because there are enough plot threads that could have led to an amazing third movie...  do check it out and let me know what you thought!   ;)

Well I've just watched it and whilst atmospherically and visually very true to the original can't say I particularly enjoyed it, seemed a bit in thrall to itself really. Style over substance.  Please - no number 3  ;D

But a magnificent one.   ;)

Call me sad, but I just rewatched 'The Expendables 3'.  Just in the mood for some daft 'bang-bang' stuff.  Hit the spot.  Unlike most of the bad guys in the film.  Seriously, if any bad guys in these daft action films were half-way decent shots, the films would be ten minutes long...  ::)

Old grey whistle test anniversary special. Mmm decent enough.
Dead men a pretty decent western, brings nothing new to the genre but a good enough film none the less.

Recently watched a documentary about how Live Aid came about, very interesting and quite a lot of candid contributions:

Also just finished watching 2 series called Dark Net about how tech & the internet is impacting people, society etc. quite good and balanced. Some very worrying concepts and developments alongside the positive. Truly we are into the Age of Consequence

Seeing as we're talking about documentaries, I watched 'Can I Be Me', that big docu about Whitney Houston by Nick Broomfield.  Not a fan of hers, not my cup of tea musically, but I can recognise what a talent she was.  Very interesting and quite sad.  Like that docu about Amy Winehouse, just shows how far people can fall when they get famous and have some wrong people around them.   :-[

Yea, ditto to that. I'll put a video now (Memories) in here when she was connected with an experimental band called the Material in start of 80's. Although the music where she sang was made for charts and money, you could hear they were making it for the music. (I admit I like that stuff, not only because Bill Laswell is my fave bassist but, well... give it a try...)  :)

I just saw DUNKIRK. It wasn't very good.

1. for such a massive event, the movie played out like it just involved a handful of folks. No epic quality at all to this film. The scale of the event was not captured. My God, any ten minutes of GAME OF THRONES (a TV show) is grander than this DUNKIRK film.
2. I love Tom Hardy and had no idea that was Tom Hardy until the credits rolled. The film completely under-utilized the best actor on Earth.
3. calling the Germans "the enemy" was such a politically correct thing to do it made me ill. So now we can't even say the Germans were the bad guys in WWII?

Other than the astounding special effects (those planes dog-fighting, those ships capsizing...so very real), not a very good film:
