This Time With Alan Partridge... liked the second episode much more than the first, I'll deffo be sticking with this show.

Glad you're liking Lost, Pol, I loved it back in the day, although I never got around to finishing it...

Just finished the penultimate episode of s9 of 'Shameless USA'... still very good, but one of the main characters is leaving after this series, which I think will kill it... oh, and the 'next episode' clip, basically blew the whole of the storyline for the final episode...  >:(
Just watching that now. Much much better. Think this is gonna be a slow burner.

Glad you liked it, mate.  No spoilers here, but the way Alan brought 'certain issues' of the BBC into the narrative in the last five minutes (and turned it to his own advantage) was just brilliant.  Also a couple of laugh out loud moments ('There's a shuttlecock up there!'... 'I've got kids!'...)   ;D

Episode three tonight, can't wait!

So, got around to seeing 'Leaving Neverland', most of the first part anyway.  Had to turn it off, not sure if I can continue... shocked, saddened, angry as fu-ck.  I don't have kids but if I did, I can't imagine letting them spend time snuggling up in bed with a man in his thirties.  'Oh, he flew us all over the world first class, he's just an innocent man-child, we really liked him...'    >:(

What the f uck is wrong with these stupid parents?   Maybe there's some explanation later on, I will finish watching this show in the hope of some justification at some point, but right now... I need a break.

For the life of me I dont understand how people throw the "He was a child"line in his defence. How is it then, given that he wrote his own songs, they features some adult topics and lyrics. Instead of rainbows, toys and jelly.

It is an extremely difficult watch. I suggest you watch it all. It doesn't get any easier to watch; in fact part two has the most heartbreaking moments when the guys tell of how they finally started to tell others.

2.
You know everybody who watches this film is falling into the same trap and stating what you said, "Stupid parents." Yes, they are stupid (their justification is explained in part two, but there is no justification); but it's odd how everybody watching this film seems to direct their anger right to the parents at first...and not MJ. (I'm not trying to pick a fight with you and say you are wrong, I am just pointing out what seems to be a common reaction to this film: hatred and anger to the parents...and MJ gets a mention here or there. Look, read your own post -- not one word of disgust and anger to MJ...just towards the parents.) And as I said, you are not alone in doing this. The mothers are getting killed over here in the media. Of course MJ gets heat, but it really is the mothers who are the brunt of the hatred. People watch the film and it's as if we accept the fact that MJ was a monster. That's a given...but the mothers? What the f is wrong with them??? That is being said first by just about everybody who watches the film.

One thing about the mothers: we must remember that at this time MJ had a hell of a pure public persona. He wasn't Keith Richards, he wasn't David Lee Roth. He wasn't a druggie sex fiend you wouldn't leave your teen daughter with. Think about it: in late 1980s would you rather have your child spend a day with Michael or with some guy from Guns N Roses? Michael perfected a pure public image. He was gentle angelic Michael who sang about helping the starving in Africa; who brought children with cancer to his ranch to bring them a bit of joy; who sang songs with no hate or anger in them, who never did drugs.... We know now it was all a fraud, but back then he was Willy Wonka. Who wouldn't want to spend a day at the Wonka factory?

Thanks Space, I will certainly continue watching it... this stuff just strikes a chord with me for personal reasons.  And I'm no stranger to 'tough watches' (heck, give 'Night Will Fall', a stunning documentary about The Holocaust, if you haven't already) but I think, that for me, watching something like 'Leaving Neverland' is best done in small doses with time to reflect between.

Anyway, with that in mind, it's light entertainment for me tonight, so it's the third 'This Time With Alan Partridge' (excellent, as Bunny and Ghosttrain said) and possibly carrying on with my big rewatch of 'Sons Of Anarchy'...

I've seen enough docu footage of the Holocaust. I probably have seen all (how much could there have been?), and oddly enough it is that scene in SOPHIE'S CHOICE that disturbs me most when it comes to Holocaust footage.

Just finished watching 'Stan And Ollie', loved it.  Rather liked Laurel And Hardy as a kid but haven't watched that stuff in many years, this film inspired me to re-investigate them.  Proper moving film, Steve Coogan and John C Reilly are both brilliant and, yes, some of the 'facts' are a bit suspect but what the heck, it's a great watch even if you don't think much of L + H...
