The „Kantaki Saga” from Andreas Brandhorst. The author translated most of the older Terry Pratchett books to German and last year I found out about his scifi books … great stuff in my opinion …
but you don’ t have to laugh …

1Q84 from Haruki Murakami. Actually re-reading it after five years... Hell of an epic 1300 pages!

If you could choose one author that you could erase all books from your memory and read them like it's the first time, who would it be?

Definitely Murakami for me :)

Just received July wages to my bank account... Me, walking towards metro station in morning sunshine, minding my own business... Suddenly - a book store. U-turn.
Bought few fiction books but stopped in front of non-fiction shelf and spotted a book from cognitive neuroscience -point of view: ''This is your brain on music - Understanding a human obsession''by Daniel Levitin.
Started reading it today, I'd like to understand my obsessions better :)
Reminded me about a book I read in January... Can't remember the name of the author but the book was called ''The Idiot Brain'', it was very entertaining read about what neuroscientists know about how our brains function, recommended! :)

Terry Pratchett … his books are unique …

But I like Murakami too and read all his books … great stuff.

I don`t know something about Haruki Murakami - but I`m a Pratchett fan and have most of his books

And Joolz - still a fight to remember enough of my old school english and enjoying reading her work  :)
And me, I`ve got a black place in my heart
Still got this hole in me
Perhaps - I am the master of nothing?

Ahhh, ''Good Omens'' from Pratchett with Neil Gaiman! Best laughs I ever had, reading a book  ;D

I was about to ask what's your favourite from Murakami... But started thinking what's my favourite and noticed it's mission impossible for me! First book I read from him was ''Kafka on the Shore'', I've been in love ever since :) Maybe easier to mention a book I wasn't so fond of: ''Norwegian Wood''. That was just depressing! :) And it took a while to get into ''Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World'', but ended up liking it anyway...

Hardboiled Wonderland was the first one for me — but it is hard to say, which one is best — mostly I like the very intensive moods in the stories … It’s a kind of flow …

''Go'' John Clellon Holmes, considered to be the first Beat novel an excellent read with thinly disguised characters who happen to be Ginsberg,Cassady,Kerouac and Holmes himself...

Henry Miller ''Tropic of Cancer''first published in 1934,not difficult to see why it was banned in so many countries including Britain and USA until the mid 1960's...maybe not shocking by today's standards. It must have appeared extremely shocking back then.....an interesting read.
