Actually taking it off would probably bother you even more. I keep mine on my back in the tube because people ***** that it takes too long to put it back on when leaving the tube.  Mine has all of my belongings and four straps that require adjusting to get off and on.  Some are also a bit to large to keep by your feet.

It's not about being a ****** but having common sense.

Actually in London it's less likely than other parts of England to get directions. Like many capital cities, everyone is so busy.
