MANHUNTER... far better than the remake, RED DRAGON, and personally I think that Brian Cox (no, not the scientist fella!) is way better than Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector...

Here's a nice William Petersen interview, the underrated actor talking about MANHUNTER for this podcast:

I finally watched The Keep recently and it was fantastic! Been searching for a bluray version since you mentioned it here and i found a spanish edition. Fun fact: a friend of mine is a friend of the manager of Tangerine Dream. I read that Michael Mann is not satisfied with the version due to financial shortcuts and his vision was a much longer version of the film and that much material he shot has not made it to the final cut/theatrical version.

I also have the spanish edition, which is basic (no extras) but offers a very nice picture quality. As I'm a big fan of this film (and Mann's movies in general), I also own the very expensive but very classy australian 4K Blu-ray edition from Imprint...Master Ray, if you're reading this...!  ;) 8):

By the way, I still haven't seen "Ferrari"! Last I heard, Mann is supposed to be shooting the sequel/prequel to "Heat" next year... I don't know if that's good news, but I'm still hoping for at least a good thriller.

Fun fact: a friend of mine is a friend of the manager of Tangerine Dream

Please ask your friend to beg Tangerine Dream's manager to release the complete soundtrack of THE KEEP on CD/vinyl!!! The soundtrack to THE KEEP has NEVER been officially released on CD/vinyl, because I suppose there were some issues between Tangerine Dream and their record label at the time. But it's very frustrating because it's my favorite soundtrack of theirs and I would love to own it on CD/vinyl!

I just posted a question about The Keep in the other thread :D...
And i will do that. My friend wanted to invite me to that guy and when it happens, i will ask him. I think there will be some information about the rights and distribution and i don't think he is srtill in professional connection with TD and releasing is always about money first, but i will tell him, that i know that at least 10.000 french people will buy an overpriced edition of that soundtrack ;-)

Exactly!! Thank you, and keep us posted when you meet with Tangerine Dream's manager. It's a sure thing that if Tangerine Dream officially released the soundtrack to THE KEEP, they would sell thousands of CDs/vinyl copies, since this music has been eagerly awaited by fans of the film and Tangerine Dream since THE KEEP's theatrical release in 1983. When the american video distributor/label Vinegar Syndrome released the first Blu-ray edition of THE KEEP last year, they sold 12,000 Blu-rays in 24 hours!! Tangerine Dream has released hundreds of albums, but never THE KEEP. In fact, the beautiful australian Imprint 4K Blu-ray edition of THE KEEP includes the film's soundtrack CD, but unfortunately, only two tracks from this CD are present in the film; the rest are tracks by Tangerine Dream, probably composed for the film but ultimately rejected by Mann/Paramount.

Only 2 songs? And they carry the whole movie?
I found a Box Set:

Pilots of Purple Twilight (Remastered 2020)

And on Disk 10 is the whole Soundtrack from The Keep. You should buy that, the price is only 928€  ;D

Most (all?) of the CD/vinyl editions available on the market only include a few of the tracks heard in the film; as I said, in my opinion, these are Tangerine Dream tracks that were rejected by Mann/Paramount. The complete film score is available on YouTube, but since I still buy Blu-rays and CDs, I'd like an OFFICIAL CD release!:

Johannes Schmoelling's thoughts on the "official" TDI The Keep soundtrack from Vinegar Syndrome's 2024 Interview - "I would like to say something fundamental about music for films. The music should serve the film, should create a certain atmosphere or emphasize specific characters, or make them recognizable. But if you listen to the music without the pictures, it often seems incomplete or not always musical. That’s why composers rework the music to be released on a soundtrack. And, as an example, I would mention the Tangerine Dream soundtrack to Michael Mann’s movie Thief. But with The Keep, we three composers -  Frank, Froese, and I - we never did so. We never, ever reworked the music for a soundtrack release.

I left the band in Summer 1985, and Christoph left in 1987. That means until we left the band there was no authorized soundtrack of The Keep. Never, ever. We never, ever reworked the music for a soundtrack release. That means there is no authorized soundtrack of The Keep. I’m referring to this CD here (the 1998 Officially Authorized soundtrack from Edgar Froese/TDI). It is a release on the TDI label around 1998. Ancient Power Plant is track 2, but I must say, I have never heard this song before. The tracks Heritage Survival and Sign in the Dark are pieces of music which we usually played in our concerts, and I think it’s possible that we also played them in our concert at the Dominion in November 1982 in London, but…these music tracks are not part of the film. The track Night in Romania is part of the movie, but during the production of the score, we called that music the Rejuvenation Theme. I found a copy of that score in my archive."
