How long have you had them ?First earrings when I was about 10 (36 years ago), done by my mums mate who had a piercing gun left accidently at her house by her hairdresser. I did the others myself using safety pins/crass and exploited badges and a compass. This was because I was a rufty tufty little punky and we had a new headmaster take over a very dodgy school who enforced a school uniform and the only jewellery to be worn was a cross/crucifix/st Christopher and stud earrings only in newly pierced ears. Sooo, me and my mate Kaf continuously pierced our ears and suddenly found religion. She wore a cross and I wore a Star Of David because I saw Siouxsie wearing one !
My nose was done when I was about 20. I had the second one done a few months ago when Gavin was putting back my tragus after a brain scan.
My bellybutton was done about 20 years ago when piercing was very new. I was mooching about a tattoo shop when the a bloke asked if I was interested in having it done. He had seen all my earrings and commented on them wanting to know who/when they were done. So I had it done and the rest is history ! Everything else came pretty soon after that with most of it being done as a trial for the piercer.
Any problems ?Never any problems with healing or infections. Not even the ones with badges that were licked to clean them !
I had a bit of a struggle getting my nipple ring back in yesterday after having all my jewellery out for hospital. Made myself quite sore.
School doesn't have a problem with all my jewellery. I've never been asked to take it out although I know they would prefer a lot less. Now it's very common to have more than one earing and body piercings and loads of the mums (and dads and nannas) have them too so I'm not looked at as a weirdo any more. The kids except it as the norm because they see it at home.
When I worked for Asda it was fine until Walmart took over and I could only wear one set of hoops that had to be smaller than a 5p. This caused a customer to write to Walmart and tell them how stupid the new rule was and that I had been serving her and her grandson for 10 years with them in and she had no problem with me or my earrings !
I used to get comments when I was young about the amount of earrings I had and the nose ring (and tattoos). Idiots asking me what tribe I was from. I grew up in the back of beyond, in Dorset. Things were like that back then in the arse end of nowhere. Things have changed now..slightly.
What about you ?
