But you know already. From Dalaman to Antalya  and in between.   Mediterranean and Aegean coast.
I will go to Istanbul when I leave but am a bit nervous. I was warned by 3 different turks that the place is not safe.
Where I'm from is not my home, and neither's where i'm bound.

So have you stopped at the places in between and explored or just sat on a bus?

So these 3 Turks who told you it wasn't safe; what reasons did they give?

Whose binkin shout is it?

Amandistan, my friend, I genuinely have no idea what to say to you anymore.  You travel more than most of the people in this silly world ever will.  You have the guts to throw yourself out in situations and countries and people that you don't know all that much about... and yet still come back to us with lines like 'I have bad anxiety, I just worry about everything, that's the way my brain works...' :(

Be honest, hun, it doesn't sound like the most comfortable life to lead.

We're not ridiculing you.  Just trying to get a grip on where you're coming from, eh?

Rah! Rah! Rah! We're going to smash the oiks!

I have very bad anxiety. I never said I would not live in the world. American has been threatened by IS as well.
They threatened NYC and DC. Why would I go there?

I find it a bit ridiculing that people tell me things like not to go outside. I worry about everything. It is just how my brain is.  I am sure i have worried about all the other possible ways to be killed.

London has suffered several times over the years through terrorisim and is STILL under threat but you've been there

What's the difference?
Is is a crime to believe in something different?

I meant what I said at the time that I said it

Don't believe everything you read, see or are told.

Remember the 'story' told by the Irish man you stopped with :) :)

It is probably not the best life to lead. But i want to travel and should not be deprived of what I want because I have bad anxiety. I would have it at home, anywhere. Besides, I must escape past life anyway

I know Red. I am going to Istanbul anyway. There seems to be a rivalry with people from the rest of Turkey and Istanbul.
I don't find american culture as exciting as other cultures. There is a treat everywhere just more likely in big cities.

I agree with all what you've said depending on the topic.

Here is a link that might be of interest to you: it's an interview of a young boy living in Finland who met a recruiter. He reveals their methods how they target possible youngsters to join the war in Syria.

After reading that only thing I think is that society should offer more opportunities to Muslim communities, maybe better jobs or something, and take them with the process in the western world.

Cheers, hope your travel will be enjoyable and safe, A. You've done something that most of us could only dream about.

Amanda. Life IS Risk. Life, love, children, business. If you don't embrace life and let a TINY minority of people, remember there are billions on this planet, give you the idea that most people are bad which they are certainly not. Then you will miss life as it wizzes by and you are old and unable to enjoy it. Live for goodness sake!  :)

Thanks for sharing, that was an interesting read. Brought to mind, unsurprsingly, the lyrics to "One of the chosen". It's easy to see why that works, I guess - I mean, if these people have nothing to lose, anything must seem so much more desirable. And once you have taken the bait it will be difficult to get out again, I am sure.  :(

Better integration is the key indeed, but if I read and listen to what is going on around me here in Germany, with even seemingly sensible and intelligent people being worried and being unsettled by all sorts of rumours - I don't see how this is supposed to happen. It doesn't help that the media have a tendency to mainly report on all the negative things happening. It should be obvious that, while there is certainly some truth to it, these cases are an exception - but the majority of people never learn about things working out, going well. And our politicians don't seem to be too interested in offering a solution, in answering people's questions. Or maybe they can't. Or a bit of both.
