Hopes and plans for 2016 ??
« on: December 31, 2015, 06:24:29 PM »
Well, the new millennium is now an unruly teenager reaching 16 tonight.  Anyone got any hopes or plans for the new year? Don't really do N.Y. resolutions, but really must start to improve my health with exercise and diet this year coming.
NMA wise I hope we do get a album with a related tour. Maybe a Single or two.  I am also curious to know if JS is planning to do anything special for his 60th birthday this year.  Massive party ? a solo charity gig in a small venue ? Cosy night in front of the telly ignoring it ?

Not one for whole resolutions thing, health wise already starting to cut my nicotine strength to 3mg , waiting to see what happens with the tpd article 20 to see if I want to continue to use ecigs don't really want to go down the making my own coils and liquids road, I've done the worst part and stopped the real cigs. Would hope to do a bit walking and cut out some of the junk food ( why does it taste so good).
Yes it seems the next nma cd is on its way, would be happy to see them 2or3 times in 2016

Personally I would like to be a bit more myself.

Hope to see a good friend and her partner soon

To get my health problems sorted out... the cardio rehab is going well, but I have to restart physio on the 15th for the back problems I've had over the last year... sick of feeling twenty years older than I actually am...

Well, next year, I work in Faro Portugal. then venture to Spain and take a boat to Morocco.

New years resolution is to drop a bit of weight.

Lose a bit of weight.

Do a few more gigs and scooter rallies (work permitting as I have a new job that will mean working nationwide, most weekends and midweek night shifts)

Also have a 1968 Ford Cortina in the garage that requires some minor repairs and I'd love to get this sorted. (Been in garage for 13 years though)

Cheers

2016 will be a big year for me, with a very recent life change from married to single.  There's much to be sorted out, but genuinely excited about the future and wondering where I will be this time next year.

There's one thing I have in my mind for this year. It's about a health problem I have because of the cigs. I get too often a (what's that you get sometimes when having a flu in English? Sinusitis?) It gets extended with me and I have to stop it with antibiotics which isn't good neither. So I think I should smoke much less.

Another thing is saving money.

Rusco, please don't get annoyed with me. But you are an intelligent person. The logical conclusion from your health issues with cigs is not cut down it is to quit!

I'm sure it is bloody difficult but as a little boy I saw my mum die of emphysema of the lung caused primarily by smoking, I remember her coughing up blood in the morning, I still can't hear someone cough a lot without that coming back. I certainly wouldn't want that for you or anyone else here!!!!!! So the clear conclusion to avoid that is quit.  :)

Hey Rusco!
I agree with Idopas - stop smoking - NOW!
I mean NOW!
Destroy all the cigarettes you have, throw them away and NEVER take another puff!
Cutting down is WORSE than quitting cos your body constantly craves nicotine.
I quit last July and to be honest I do not miss a thing.

I have some fitness goals for 2016 :)

1. Finish the Dirty Coast mud run on May 21 2016 (time is not important)

2. Lower bodyfat to 12 % by the end of June

3. Run 10 km with an average pace of less than 5 min/km and an average heartrate of approx. 150 bpm by the end of August

I can only agree with others on here that giving up smoking is a great thing. I had been a smoker for the best part of 30 years until I stopped about four years ago. I feel so much healthier for it, and not to say I am better off financially as well.

It's not easy giving up. I made several attempts until I finally cracked it. I found the nicotine gums really helped me to quit, and I do partake in an e-cig when I have a drink...I always found when having a pint was when I was most tempted to light up, but the e-cig helped solved that challenge as well.

Funnily enough, another thing I gave up around the same time was driving. After talking it over with my better half, we decided to sell the car and either go on foot or use public transport. Again, I feel much healthier for it, and better off too.

As for 2016, we want to do a lot more walking...and not just walking to the shops or walking to work...but getting back up into them thar hills. We only got one proper walk in last year, along the Northumbrian coast. Although it was lovely, only doing one proper walk in a year is totally unacceptable. So we fully intend to get the ol' walking boots back on again this year!

All the best,
Johnny

Cheers Ldopas and Johnny. I appreciate your views and admit quitting is what I'd like to go for. Quitting for me is very, VERY hard. But I think I understand nowadays better a way I should try it. I dare not to promise too much yet.
