I Still Have Not Listened To "Winter"
« on: November 19, 2017, 12:11:22 AM »
OK, new here but HUGE NMA fan. I became a fan when they were banned from entering my USA because they were deemed of "no artistic value." No artistic value? I have got to check this band out! I listened and discovered their artistic value was second only to The Beatles.

Anyway, longtime fan, I buy their albums the day they come out. Bought "Winter"...still haven't listened to it. Sounds weird, but I am savoring it. Still waiting for that day when I play it and get to hear new New Model Army music. And let's face it, the anticipation of hearing something new from that band is a great feeling. Well, I still have that feeling of anticipation for something new. Out there for me is a complete work by NMA that I have not heard! That's a great feeling.

Anyway, just wanted to say, "Hi" and, yes, there are some quirky New Model Army fans out there.

Well, I don't know if I will like it until I hear it. That's obvious. But don't you think it is cool to have something from a favorite artist of yours that you have yet to discover? Wouldn't it be wild if there was a complete Beatles album from 1966 that was unreleased....unheard? How about a Michelangelo statue yet unseen? Well, I kind of have that with New Model Army's "Winter."

Welcome back space,
Love the way he ignored this.  ;D
Tonight, as you stare at the ceiling again
With your lover turning away
Disappointment closing in
Like the walls... and you try...
You try to talk about love
And they put their arms around you
But you still feel all alone
Wonder why...

It does make you wonder doesn't it. Especially with a mention of the Beatles already.

If not, welcome Whirlwind. When you get around to listening to it - "Winter" is amazing, better than anything ever done by the Beatles

IMHO.

Who knew that incests could make music.  Anyway without being rude,  I don't get it why have something and not use it ,you wouldn't do this with anything else, you never know what tomorrow may bring if it arrives at all

The last half of your sentence answers your own question. We do not know what tomorrow will bring. Tomorrow may bring no new material from a band, so isn't it great that I will still have new material, unheard from that band that no longer exists?

Case in point: I have on DVD every single Clint Eastwood film. I have seen them all a billion times each, but one film THE GAUNTLET, I have refused to watch. I am saving it for that one day when Clint will no longer be making any more films. When that day comes I am a lucky one because I still have a Clint Eastwood film unseen.

Perhaps I will do that with NMA's "Winter." One day Justin will retire, break up the band permanently...but I will still have an album's worth of NMA material to discover.

But this isn't a lost album, just one that you refused to listen to.  What happens if you fall and die a slow-ish death at the hospital one day?  You could be sitting in all kinds of pain thinking: "I wonder how that lost NMA album Winter sounds?"

Do yourself and listen to it.  I'm sure it would make the band happy.

.

1) If I die I am dead and wouldn't be able to think to myself, "I should have listened to "Winter."

2) If I die a "slow-ish" death I would much rather listen to music that I love and am familiar with than listen to "Winter" which is 13 songs I don't even know.

Yup. The Clint Eastwood thing gave it away.  Space, you posted the exact same thing a few years ago on a film-related thread. I'd post the exact quote but I can't be bothered, it's out there. It's certainly you.   ;)

How you been, old son?

Hey, zero, I see your mommy won out. She raised you to be a little girl and your daddy just sat there and cried when he saw how you turned out. Seriously, are you a 14 year old little girl? Man, your kind make me sick. Time for you to apologize to your dad for turning out to be such a pathetic zero.

Consider yourself lucky that somebody like me even talks to a nobody like you... you have proven that you are a first class schmuck and a nobody in life... You are so far beneath me... I have far more respect for an insect... your kind sickens me...

I see you wrote me a private message. I didn't read a word of it. I'm laughing so hard that I made you waste your time. But then a true nobody like you wastes time every single useless minute of your life.

Words that you PM'd me.  **** you sideways until Sunday.  You're a dick of the highest order.

That's an amazing coincidence. I always knew that there were others who would save a work from a favorite artists for another day; but it is wild to find someone else who does it with the same artist as me as that poster above does with Clint Eastwood!

Folks, it's a coincidence. I am here to talk about my love of New Model Army, not other posters. Can we talk about NMA, please?
