Good topic.

Beatles - early days at The Cavern Club
Elvis - any era, even the goofy Vegas stuff
Joy Division
The Specials (not what's out there right now)
New Model Army (not what's out there right now)

(I do think Joy Division will be on most people's lists.)

The clash

Saw them many, many times. Saw them at the peak of their powers when they played their legendary shows in Times Square in New York City. They were one of the great live bands that ever existed. Echo and the Bunnymen were the best live band I ever did see, but The Clash sure were not too shabby. Passion, aggressive energy, and fun. Great live band.

Well, The Clash and Joy Division would be on my list, as others have stated here, but beyond that... I've been to many hundreds of gigs over 30 years and I think I've seen pretty much everyone I wanted to.  I mean, I like a lot of Queen stuff from the 70's but I don't feel any burning desire to go back in time and see them...

I can think of one single gig that I missed and regret it to this day, I think I've mentioned it before.  When Shane McGowen left The Pogues they already had a UK tour booked so Joe Strummer stepped in on vocals.  I bloody love The Pogues but McGowen, bless him, was a dodgy proposition at best in a live venue (I saw him when the Pogues reunited in the 2000's and, well, it wasn't the finest performance I've ever seen, to say the least...  :-\ )

But Strummer, fronting a great band and singing those great songs.. HOW IN THE NAME OF FLIPPING BLOODY CRIKEY DID I PASS THAT ONE UP? At Liverpool Royal Court as well, a long gone venue that is still one of my favourites?

I still regard myself as deserving a hard punch, right in the dick, for passing that one up.  You're welcome to agree.   ;D

Missed a lot of gigs and some artists were mentioned as R.I.P  :(
Rory Gallagher
Frank Zappa
Calvin Russel
Hendrix

Bands no longer exists (or changed members/style)
Free or old Fleetwood Mac or a lot of other blues bands
Animals/Eric Burdon & War
A lot of folk bands( first Fairport Convention with or without .., Pentangle, Steeleye Span..., or some of the solo projects of their members)
16 HP
Early NMA

Glad I`ve seen
Genesis 1975 in Kiel
Alan Stivell 2x in his early years before 1980

I know I`m not getting old, I`m old or as young as Joolz or Justin  ;)

And me, I`ve got a black place in my heart
Still got this hole in me
Perhaps - I am the master of nothing?

But I was too young to visit the last gig of Hendrix - my parents did`t allow me to go to visit the festival and arrested me at home  >:(

Would've loved to have seen Crass.
Tonight, as you stare at the ceiling again
With your lover turning away
Disappointment closing in
Like the walls... and you try...
You try to talk about love
And they put their arms around you
But you still feel all alone
Wonder why...
