OK, new here but HUGE NMA fan. I became a fan when they were banned from entering my USA because they were deemed of "no artistic value." No artistic value? I have got to check this band out! I listened and discovered their artistic value was second only to The Beatles.
Anyway, longtime fan, I buy their albums the day they come out. Bought "Winter"...still haven't listened to it. Sounds weird, but I am savoring it. Still waiting for that day when I play it and get to hear new New Model Army music. And let's face it, the anticipation of hearing something new from that band is a great feeling. Well, I still have that feeling of anticipation for something new. Out there for me is a complete work by NMA that I have not heard! That's a great feeling.
Anyway, just wanted to say, "Hi" and, yes, there are some quirky New Model Army fans out there.

Hello and welcome Whirlwind, how will you know if you will like it?
Cheers
jc

Welcome back space, glad your still around(kinda!) To shake things up, by the way winter is f**king awesome if you haven't heard any yet.
-
Well, I don't know if I will like it until I hear it. That's obvious. But don't you think it is cool to have something from a favorite artist of yours that you have yet to discover? Wouldn't it be wild if there was a complete Beatles album from 1966 that was unreleased....unheard? How about a Michelangelo statue yet unseen? Well, I kind of have that with New Model Army's "Winter."
-
Welcome back space,
Love the way he ignored this. ;D

It does make you wonder doesn't it. Especially with a mention of the Beatles already.
If not, welcome Whirlwind. When you get around to listening to it - "Winter" is amazing, better than anything ever done by the Beatles
IMHO.

Who knew that incests could make music. Anyway without being rude, I don't get it why have something and not use it ,you wouldn't do this with anything else, you never know what tomorrow may bring if it arrives at all

The last half of your sentence answers your own question. We do not know what tomorrow will bring. Tomorrow may bring no new material from a band, so isn't it great that I will still have new material, unheard from that band that no longer exists?
Case in point: I have on DVD every single Clint Eastwood film. I have seen them all a billion times each, but one film THE GAUNTLET, I have refused to watch. I am saving it for that one day when Clint will no longer be making any more films. When that day comes I am a lucky one because I still have a Clint Eastwood film unseen.
Perhaps I will do that with NMA's "Winter." One day Justin will retire, break up the band permanently...but I will still have an album's worth of NMA material to discover.
-
But this isn't a lost album, just one that you refused to listen to. What happens if you fall and die a slow-ish death at the hospital one day? You could be sitting in all kinds of pain thinking: "I wonder how that lost NMA album Winter sounds?"
Do yourself and listen to it. I'm sure it would make the band happy.

.
1) If I die I am dead and wouldn't be able to think to myself, "I should have listened to "Winter."
2) If I die a "slow-ish" death I would much rather listen to music that I love and am familiar with than listen to "Winter" which is 13 songs I don't even know.

Welcome back space
Ha ha ha! Genius!
-
Yup. The Clint Eastwood thing gave it away. Space, you posted the exact same thing a few years ago on a film-related thread. I'd post the exact quote but I can't be bothered, it's out there. It's certainly you. ;)
How you been, old son?
Hey, zero, I see your mommy won out. She raised you to be a little girl and your daddy just sat there and cried when he saw how you turned out. Seriously, are you a 14 year old little girl? Man, your kind make me sick. Time for you to apologize to your dad for turning out to be such a pathetic zero.
Consider yourself lucky that somebody like me even talks to a nobody like you... you have proven that you are a first class schmuck and a nobody in life... You are so far beneath me... I have far more respect for an insect... your kind sickens me...
I see you wrote me a private message. I didn't read a word of it. I'm laughing so hard that I made you waste your time. But then a true nobody like you wastes time every single useless minute of your life.
Words that you PM'd me. **** you sideways until Sunday. You're a dick of the highest order.

Allow me M/R, it was the topic whereby he has not yet listened to "Wine and Blood" --

Thank you, sir! *doffs cap*

That's an amazing coincidence. I always knew that there were others who would save a work from a favorite artists for another day; but it is wild to find someone else who does it with the same artist as me as that poster above does with Clint Eastwood!
Folks, it's a coincidence. I am here to talk about my love of New Model Army, not other posters. Can we talk about NMA, please?
-
Master Ray, I see above that you posted some negative comments about another poster, yet, in the thread Shush posted you say this to that same poster: "Hi, Space! I respect your opinion."
Interesting.
-
Viv, please don't moderate this out of existence. Well, not until he posts something truly dreadful. Much as I dislike Space, I'm DYING to see where this is going... ;D
*grabs popcorn out of the microwave and starts munching, on the edge of his sofa...*

Interesting.
I did. I'll give anyone a chance or three. And some of that stuff was quite funny. Just not a fourth. 'Someone' posted relentlessly antagonising shit that upset or angered friends of mine. Give a single, solid, sensible reason why a prick like that should be allowed back. Trolling, at best, and insulting shit at worst.
-
I'm new here and confused by much of this talk. I post a nice thread about savoring a work from an artist that I love and I get very odd responses.
My God, I am actually afraid to post anything else here. I was going to post how I added guitars to the song "Inheritance" and actually made it a far better song. Now I am afraid to share it because of the odd, off topic responses some of you post.
I am here to talk of my love of NMA. Let's do that, folks.
-

You said it yourself in your own post:
"And some of that stuff was quite funny."
That's why you should be tolerant of others. Clearly this other poster gave you a fun time, a chuckle, a laugh, a nice experience at this board. But then a few things you didn't like turned you off??? Comedy can seem to hurt, that is actually the nature of comedy. I did not like all of Richard Pryor's material, but he is still my favorite comic. Do you like 100% of what New Model Army does? Most likely no, but you stick with them just the same. If some of the stuff from that poster "was quite funny," then that's reason enough to enjoy the rest of the show.
-
Er... Space, did you forget the utterly hateful PM's you sent to me? That I mentioned earlier? It wasn't all funny shit and giggles. Not a 'nice experience' at all. I'm not some 'snowflake' whose easily offended, but you pissed me off over and over again just for your own amusement.
Please, stop pretending not to be 'Space' and some new persona called 'Whirlwind'... it's just getting a bit embarassing now...
-
Seem to remember Space said he'd put guitars to Inheritance and made it " a better song"
Methinks we should just "Let the Whirlwind blow"
Sorry.I'll get my coat
-
If your gonna attempt to come back space then at have the balls to apologise, don't try and waltz in and pretend to be someone else. NMA fans are a pretty intelligent lot n let's face it you were sussed after one post . Personally I hope Viv boots your sorry arse back to where it belongs. I had hoped that the last cpl of years would have given you a chance to grow up and develop as a person. The internet is full of places where trolls can feed facebook youtube twitter etc , this board isn't one of them !
-
Ah shite. Sorry folks, seems I've been taken in by the infamous Space. I'll give it until tomorrow night, but if any of it annoys me half as much as it's doing now, I'm calling time. Sorry, just can't be doing with this tedious bull over and over again.
-
Pol, I have fun. I remember that guy Space posted a brilliant comedy bit on April Fool's Day announcing he released an album, and only a handful here went along for the fun ride. The others were so wound up tight they didn't even note the date.
I am Whirlwind. If I can make your time here even half as fun and amusing as that guy Space did, then we should all be thankful. Thanksgiving Day is coming up, you know. Let's all be thankful for those in the world who have a sparkle in their eye, their tongue in their cheek, and a grin on their face.
I am Whirlwind, I wish I had met this Space guy you all seem to talk of. Sounds like a regular good time Charley. More of them are needed in our world.
Oh, yeah, I did buy that guy Space's album. Wasn't an April Fool's joke after all. Rather good:

Sorry, Viv. I apologize to you. But this Whirlwind will be a far better poster. Jokes will be there. And ask around...I have a feeling many folks here like me, they really like me. (Just read Master Ray's post above.)
Once again, sorry, Viv. I'll pull back.
-
You know, what, Space? Have at it. I welcome your forthcoming BS. If others find it amusing, and give you another chance, so be it. I'll respect that.
It's just such a shame that you could have found friends here but chose to be somewhat of a dick. Especially to me.
I give you 24 hours before you get booted right out of here again... ???

May I MR point out that, ahem, "Whirlwind" posted this on this thread (see above). For a person completely new to the board that is a truly telepathic knowledge of what this other, ahem, person "Space" posted and the reaction to it. Truly uncanny! ::)
This is developing into an interesting thread. Thanks for the chuckles people as I sit at work at the crack of dawn! :)
-
A new name here doesn`t create a new person here without changing the way the person with the old name acted before here ....
I`m not interested to see this board filled with the same old odd postings (and repostings of other memebers) again >:(
-
That's nothing. I know people who have never heard of NMA let alone heard ANY of the albums. Sometimes it's better that way.
-
...I added guitars to the song "Inheritance" and actually made it a far better song.
Aaaaaaand I'm out.
