Bad news-need vibes, prayers, thoughts, etc......

Some of you have seen these pictures before, most have not.
This is my dear cat and buddy Toby wearing his favorite shirt a couple
summers back, in eager anticipation of the 30th anniv. Brooklyn shows....

Toby disappeared eight days ago.
An all-out search & rescue attempt has been ongoing all week,
but neither hair nor hide has been heard of or from him since.
(We are in Trumbull, Connecticut, USA).

Sorry to hear about Toby, we have two cats too and understand your worry. Hope he finds his way home soon, sending all positive vibes your way.

Fingers and toes crossed for you all. Its every pet human's worst fear but cats are more resourceful than most when it comes to getting home.

Apparently we have these vile creatures called "Fisher Cats" (not really cats- like a REALLY BIG weasel) lurking about, and it seems they are about the most vicious things on 4 legs there are just about anywhere-including wolverines, to whom they are also related.
 
Fishers have been known to climb up the sides of houses and pull cats from windows.
They are the only known animal that can, and regularly do, have porcupines for lunch.
Dog owners have come home to find their 50-60 lb dogs *all over* their back porch.
They are most easily recognised by their "shriek"- described as "an infant being tortured".
I kid you all not- that's not my quote. Google it.
Don't mean to be gruesome, but reports like these have been appearing all over New
England, esp. Massachusetts. In Rhode Island a Fisher attacked a 6yr old boy at the bus stop, tore his backpack off him before it was chased off!
MIND THOSE NON-HUMAN "FAMILY" MEMBERS!
Crazy, but I joke you not......
I fear the worst.

Does Toby have a chip so if they find a cat (dead or alive) they can trace the owner?

Hey Marloes, no, no chip. I just got back from searching the neighborhood for 3 hours by flashlight. nothing. 1 possum, 2 deer. Very discouraging. Tom-Cat Cat is bumming as well.

Sorry to hear about Toby - we had a cat who, each summer, used to go on her travels for three weeks at a time. She just wandered back in, looking slightly bedraggled but was always fine.

On another occasion we leafletted the neighbourhood (about 200 houses) and that worked.

Hope you have some great news soon.
