Nice one Michelle. You deserve it.

Four year course,, I bet half of that was learning to to spell it as well as become one  :D

Ive visited a Neolithic Burial site today. Sun shining, Snowdonia staring down at us and absolute peace and quiet. Pretty much made my day.

OK, I've made no secret of the fact that I think I live in a town full of dickheads.  Crewe, in South Cheshire, a grim place where everything seems to be closing down and the only thing that seems to be increasing in the number of homeless people.  Business is poor, the local government is pretty much bankrupt and it's a rare day when you don't see some example of physical or emotional violence committed on another human being because people are that drunk / angry / stupid etc...

But.  I don't suppose any of you have seen the UK news reports about the Beechmere fire?  Basically, a huge nursing home in Crewe caught fire, displacing a great many elderly folks, many of whom had Alzheimers or the like.  A clip beneath, you only need to watch a minute or two to get an idea about what I'm talking about...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDCATTXb0bk

And what did 'my town full of dickheads' do..?  Responded massively and heroically.  There were rescue centres set up, asking for donations and, I swear, there were queues around the block, people giving anything they could spare or afford, vans unloading a big cargo of much-needed items, people donating money, you get the idea.

So, yeah, what 'made me happy' today?  Feeling a bit of pride for my hometown.  I can't remember the last time that happened.   :'(

A bit harsh there about Crewe MR. I do go there to the outskirts to get my car serviced every 25,000 miles. However I must admit to not going much further, as you have a crazy traffic system if memory serves me right. I've always thought the way into Crewe with the station and that tall depressing building behind it, which I think was British Rail gives it the welcome that you must feel entering Mordor!  ;)

But a couple of things to mention as I'm in a good mood today! You and I are lucky to live in Cheshire, one of the wealthiest counties in the UK. Whilst there are areas of deprivation like any county, we still live in a pretty decent county. As a person who was born and brought up in Sussex, lived in London for a decade for work and now works for myself from a Cheshire base...I like it!

As for people, I'm a glass half full person......well I try to be. The vast majority of people from whatever education, wealth bracket or "class" are decent I believe. I think any of us would step in, and it doesn't surprise me that people rally to the fire in Crewe. In the end we are all connected to the hopes and dreams of others which we can relate to easily.

Good comment, mate.  And, yes, the traffic system in and around Crewe is just a nightmare... and probably always will be ;)

And you're right about Cheshire in general.  It's a decent place to live, you've got a couple of major cities very close by for the 'city life evenings out' and some lovely countryside not too far away.  I suppose I have a distorted view because I live right on the edge of one of the roughest parts of Crewe and I've seen some pretty nasty things, heck, I got the living crap kicked out of me a few years back in a random street attack...

But yeah, perhaps this incident should give me more faith in those 'people' things.  To quote the 1984 film Starman... 'Shall I tell you what I find beautiful about you? You are at your very best when things are worst...'

Boris Johnson apparently saying to Corbyn "Call an Election, you big girl's blouse" made me chuckle.
