Went to 'The Pompey Rumble' a few days ago... no less than 7 Psychobilly bands with The Sharks headlining!
Fantastic gig, fantastic people/music/everything!
Female fronted German band The Retarded Rats absolutely blew me away!
Thee Waltons were a lot of fun, the Coffin Nails were unbelievably tight live...
Every band played their arses off and it was greatly appreciated... best night I've had this year and can't wait for next years!

After the Army in Brighton and London I am rounding off the weekend on Sunday evening with King Prawn, Imperial Leisure, Anti Vigilante and Random Hand at KOKO in Camden, then next weekend Jim Bob at Bush Hall.

there's something a bit new going on in my psyche can I tell you good folk about it?

Well, after my fairly absent feeling experience at the NMA manc gig (and an incidental here but thanks Ray for your words about this - I appreciate them - I was hoping to meet you at the Manc gig and just ride through my embarressments about my drunken ramble to you those few months ago - so - good to hear from you - my drunkeness is trompled into the dirt at last - good)
anyway after the NMA experience I was reluctant to go to last nights Dylan gig in Blackpool - thing is I ******* love Dylan and especially this set he's touring - Long and Wasted Years, Forgetful Heart, Pay In Blood, Things Have Changed - man it's a great set he's got together for this tour.  He's gnarly and not out to impress - as punk as he ever was. So eventually and I mean just hours before the gig I make a phone call and commit to go to the gig.

And sure Ok I got utterly blasted drunk - two babyshams, three vimtos - big night out you know but that is not the reason that again I have got home and I feel so disconnected from the gig - I'm glad I went - I went in half a bad mood/attitude; like: 'Dylan - be good - do it boy - be very good' and he's as spectacular as he is - very good indeed but again I'm home and i feel like I've watched a very elaborate movie just the once - I need to see it a few more times - And I think that that is what is going on in my psyche - I'm leaving the hedonism of the whirlwind and I'm entering a different phase.

maybe next year i pick a band and I see that one band ten times instead of seeing ten bands just once each - boy oh boy who would it be though?  New Model Army? Leonard Cohen?  Woven Hand (or Wovenhand as I was correctly corrected here one day - thanks for that but old habits you know...) Well anyway it wouldn't be Woven Hand because DEE seems to despise England - It won't be LC because he's just been - I tell you if Shane gets a band together I would choose Shane MacGowan over all of 'em.

Ok folks - I'm just trying to unwind here, thanks for letting me ramble -

Last night was another absent evening - very special but absent - with Dylan.
Next up is Waterboys in Glasgow and then if they don't cancel its Pogues in Manchester and you know something boys and girls - I'm figuring i'll try sobriety for these gigs - see if that helps.  Can you imagine a Pogues gig without amphetamines (given up years ago) and now no whiskey even?  Outrageous - yup - something is happening, and I don't know what it is...

The PIXIES last night at Hammersmith Apollo. Just jaw droppingly amazing. No chit chat, no pauses, just two hours 35 songs and playing so tight with such amazing sound it was like they had never been away. The new material easily stands up alongside the old favourites.

Sigur Rós in Düsseldorf last night. Second time I saw them and, again, they totally blew me away. Their lightshow including projections and video sequences is among the best I have ever seen and totally matches and supports what is happening musically - and that's a lot (including string & brass section) and of amazing quality. All in all a fantastic evening which justified a 2 hour long drive home through the first snow on slippery roads and dense fog with ease :)

I did the Manchester Apollo gig and it sounds like a similar affair although we got 39 songs.  They certainly mixed it up a bit with a mixture of old, new and not really played much material. The age of some of the audience  was impressive as a lot were obviously to young to have been there during their first time around, so yeh, all in all a good night out

The Damned last Thursday in Brizzol.
Bit dodgy to start with because Dave couldn't hear himself and walked off,but all came good (as per) in the end.
Supported by The Ruts DC,which was a bit of a "Dads Disco" !
Brill though.
