I work 30+ hours a week and have to claim both working tax and child tax credits because I'm below the poverty line.
This government has decided that I am poor because they set the level.
This government has decided not to pay me a minimum wage let alone a living wage.
This government has decided that all children get the best education possible from the age of 3 so they can get the best job possible and not claim credits when they are older.
So why not start with me ?
Pay me a good wage while I educate the children to get a good wage ?
When the children say " I want to be a teacher like you when I grow up" I tell them that they will get more money if they work at Asda. That's a fact. I earned double the money for half the hours when I worked there.

Does my friggin head in.

...four gundogs chased a cat at our office parking lot today. I saw it too late and could not do anything anymore. I´ll remember you tiger and hope that there is no one waiting for you at home tonight.....

I will try to get the picture out of my head. In wild life I would say this is "unavoidable", but this one was something completely diffrent. F...

I am surprised to hear that Wezzy. I thought teachers were well paid in the U.K.

I'm a special needs teaching assistant not a class teacher.
Class teachers, especially the younger ones and newly qualified don't earn a lot either. In my school there are 5 teachers who don't earn enough to pay off their student loans.

Don't get me started on how much the nurses looking after me in hospital get and how many hours they work.

That all sounds very wrong, my sympathies. People doing vital work for the masses should at least get a living wage, or else who can blame them for taking the first job they find in the private sector with better money -- after they have spent years doing the job and perfecting their craft.  Then be replaced by the next desperate for a job beginner to repeat the whole process

Spent 40 minutes on the phone today with my bank, trying to sort out the desperate jumble that is my finances nowadays... the girl I spoke to, nice as she was, had utterly NO bloody clue whatsoever about anything!  I actually had to explain, back to her, the information that she had on-screen in front of her!

I think it's sorted now, but if I'm bankrupt and homeless in a few months thanks to her pushing the wrong button or something, I'm relying on you lot to offer me a sofa for the night or something...   :D

Well if you can get the train fare to Ayrshire
Seriously the bank next door to me is closing next month and I've always found it really handy n ok they are saying that I can do most of the stuff at the post office across the road, how long will I need to wait, will the staff be properly trained etc. Online banking is ok till you have a problem n need to speak to someone especially when your pc knowledge is basic

First off, I'll admit the thing I did completely wrong in my 25+ years as a working man...

Firstly never ever look back, its only going to give you the impression you were wrong most of the time mate! The things I've done wrong, wrong choices, lost chances, women I should have committed to.........it happens and we learn from it. I think it can only do your head in. So you made the choices that you thought right at the time!

I hear what you say, but you clearly are a guy who has intellect and a spark. It's not too late to do anything, change anything I always believe. We are told by society that after a time we are on a set path, bollocks I say. I sweated whether to stay in IT which I am qualified for or be like my Dad (long dead) and go into construction. So years ago I retrained and here I am now.

And thank you for being glad I am doing well at the mo, I didnt write that to sound smug. I have been through shit as well, my first attempt years ago failed and I lost my home to pay off the debts, but you gotta get the f**k up, don't let the bastards drive you down etc  ;)

So I learnt a lot from the fail and in 1998 tried again with the wisdom of age, (though luckily I was still pretty young) and failure to back me now. At the mo it's going from strength to strength, because like or loath the government they are putting money into construction and there is shitloads of it, so much we can't keep up. However it only takes a red or blue government to bugger it up and we may have to rethink. but fingers crossed!  :)

And you are right. I'm happy to say as someone who has their own company that the government should NOT be subsidising private sector wages. We pay properly (we employ the odd apprentice and pay them triple the paltry allowance they get for example), we want them to be motivated not worry where their next loaf is coming from.

And as for ensuring public sector workers (and some are but many are not) get a living wage, there is no excuse, they have our tax money they should make it happen.

This bollocks that if you have a living wage many companies will go out of business is either untrue, or millions of companies are working with miscalculated unit costs and should be bust anyway. None of this is a political point in my eyes. :)

I was with you til you said you were young in 98 :)

Seriously. I agree. Everyone has regrets or things in hindsight youd change. Fact is you cant. I remember at 25 at the end of me first marriage visiting a very dark place. Now.....what an arse. Lifes good if you make it that way and work through its trials.

Wasps.  I have not been stung since I was six. I forgot that it hurt very badly. It would not back off. It kept stinging me. Three hits.  It felt like someone was punching me. Hours later it still hurts.
They are the meanest animals ever and serve no propose. They don't make honey not pollinate flowers. Wasps are bastards. All i wanted to do was a hours of gardening for a nice polish woman.

Gotta ask, A, why did you not, on the third sting or so, just splatter the little bastard with a clapped hand?  They do have to latch onto you, they're not firing from a distance with little laser-guided wasp bazookas!

I agree, though, they are little yellow and black bastards with no purpose on this Earth.   ;)

If I`m a wasp, I could have a fine life without this animals walking on two legs through my living room! These bastards! I`m hungry now after I feeding my children for weeks and they are disturbing my meal! Sweet honey flowers are offering (or sweet cake- sorry, I don`t want the tea, too)
 ;)
And me, I`ve got a black place in my heart
Still got this hole in me
