I flew from Nashville to NY for the 30th shows (by myself).  Can't say I felt like I became part of the family that weekend, but I heard some really great music.

Really?, that genuinely disappoints me and make me a bit sad  :'(

New York cousins be a bit ashamed  >:(

Tell you what, if I win the lottery and you lot will let me in I'll fly over myself and next NY gig we'll show 'em how it should be done  ;D  :-*

If ever an American bus tour happens, i can and will rent a van and drive if needed. I have experience in the American roads. I can drive a boat as well if ever they do a tour of everywhere along the very large Mississippi river. Though driving in NYC sounds like torture.

i also love the old nma- cd's more than the new ones, venom, sarcastic, straight to the point, but still i think its good that nma moving, trying new directions and maybe will come back one day to the previous time  :D
in case of lennon vs. justin: i never loved lennon, don't know a lot about his songs, so i don't take a part in the discussion, but its great that you've your own opinion, we don't have to agree, but it makes topics interesting  ::)
in case you never have been to an nma- gig: i'm a fan about 30 years too and i live in fcking israel, nobody knows the band here and 2 years ago i realised that i never saw them live. i'm not going alone to cinema/ pubs ect., but i decided that i have to see a gig. then 2013 i've been in koeln and it was one of my happiest moments in life, even if i was'nt sure how i'll feel there alone, it was awesome and i'm glad i did it and again there last show, koeln 2014.
space do it, you have to  ;)! and maybe i'll come to nyc if they are there, i love this town, was the whole last september in brooklyn  :D
lovely day and greetings to ny!  8)

Amanda, I really like the idea of a US boat tour, that'd be travelling in style!

And then take someone like Clint Eastwood -- he is making far better films now then he did back in the '80s. His work actually improved. I certainly am not nostalgiac for "Space Cowboys" or "The Rookie."

"Sudden impact", "Pale rider", "Bird" were made in the 80's and they were pretty good in my opinion, i also think that "Honkytonk man" is one of Eastwood's best films, and it was made in the 80's too (and i don't forget "Breezy" which is my favourite Eastwood movie probably, made not in the last decade but in the early 70's!!)  ;)

High is my absolute favorite, It's a very "Hippie" album referring to the other thread. I am grateful that NMA are not stuck in the 80's. That would be dreadful.

Indeed. "High" is probably my favourite NMA album from the 2000's.
I can understand some of Space's complaints about NMA's last albums but on each one of these albums there are still enough gems and passion to make the band worthwile, in my opinion.

For Christmas I received "Wine and Blood" and "High" (after one disappointing release after another, I decided to skip "High" upon its initial release). Like most NMA albums they will take time to get into, but I can already see they ain't going to be as mind-blowingly great as the early albums. So I listen to this newer stuff....and then run to my cabinet, grab an old NMA album, and listen to "No Rest For The Wicked" for the millionth time.

This happens with every NMA release -- the new stuff makes me listen to the old stuff. Because I got into the band in the early days I guess I am doomed to never enjoy the new releases as much as I see some here do. Those early albums had one great tune after another; the new albums...it is hard to find even one top song. I think the last great song the band had was "Long Goodbye" --  that goes back to 1998!

I'm doomed. I'll always get NMA albums, but the adrenaline rush I got from listening to a new NMA album is a thing of the past. Yes, I admit I played air-guitar in front of the mirror to many a NMA album. That sure didn't happen last year with the "Dog And Wolf" album. Ain't happening with "Wine and Blood" either.

Crucify me for complaining, but a NMA album release was as fantastic as your team winning the Super Bowl. You'd walk around with your shoulders straighter, your head higher, and you'd have attitude! Now I just get a little bit sadder with an NMA release, and I fall back into nostalgia and play the older records.

nah

i listen to the early stuff anyway

Good stuff.

I suppose I may get around to seeing them after thirty years as you did. What keeps me away is the fact that I might see an entire two hour set of new songs that I really do not care for.  Chances of me seeing them perform an old fave of mine like "Western Dream" would be practically nil. I didn't see the band back then when I should have. I can deal with it.

And New York is good. Cold as Mars here right now, we have an incredibly lousy basketball team here right now, but New York is still good.

I think i would prefer traveling toward California to see NMA than New York. NYC is just too big, crowded and expensive. California is too probably but more spread out and warm.

However ,it does not matter because touring America causes them to lose too much money. And I completley understand. Plus it gives me an excuse to travel to other countries to see them.

But I like the new albums better as it's when i got into them. Also the fact that they seemed like hippies going back to that thread.
