44.  Been following NMA since the late 80's I think when I heard 51st State in a rock club called Scrumpies in Leeds.

Cheers,

43. But kinda aging backwards since, uhm, 2012 I guess, so that makes me... 35.

In on NMA since 1988 - A friend brought a cassette tape to our club, 'Radio Sessions' on one side, Melissa Etheridges Debut on the other, and I'm pretty happy I stuck with NMA rather than ME. Was inevitable though - I don't think I heard such raw powerful sound paired with such deep, clever lyrics before. And of course I totally fell for the handsome devil that was slade the leveller ^^ really he's been some sort of guru for a good few years.

I always thought that album planted a lot of the seeds for how aspects of my life came out to be - how I got to be left while being wary of leftist ideology, being anarchist while being skeptical of the -ism, knowing how it's not always that easy to decide what's good and what's bad, accepting a 'spiritual' fundament underneath all things political... 'frightened' propably is rsponsible for how I now (28 yrs later...) still regard 'fear' to be one of the most destructive forces in life (yet unfortunately one that is so very present in our western world, and for a reason I guess as it's just so useful for the fuckers)

42.
Discovered NMA in 1989 on the exact same day I discovered weed. (both introduced by the same newly made friend).
I honestly can't think of a better day in my life  ;)
I meant what I said at the time that I said it.

39.
Since the Great British Music Weekend on the radio, January 1991.

I recorded this on cassette, and I remember the DJ at the end saying "blimey, they've been about a few years but boy they still know how to make great music".

25 years ago.  :o

41 (but not for long...) I discovered NMA in 88/89 though my sisters vinyl.

Seemed to loose the plot for Love of Hopeless onwards and then back on board again for Eight.

I'm 50, born in '66 and first saw NMA in 1983, 33 years ago!!
First heard about them in early 83, saw them on the same bill with Death Cult, Killing Joke, Jayne County, Play Dead and loads more!

43. Been listening since 1992 when my boyfriend in college introduced me. Lost sight of them for a number of years until I happened to see that they would be playing in NYC and went to see them and fell in love again - I think that was about 2006?

49, first got in to NMA at the time of No Rest, lots of airplay, an appearance on top of the pops. Reinforced by the first gig in Leeds in November(?) 1985, around the time of Brave New World.

I'm 37, and have been listening since 1997 (had heard them before but not much), when I went into Scorpion Records in High Wycombe and blew my first grant cheque on lots of Sisters Of Mercy vinyl.  On my way to the counter I saw a copy of B-Sides And Abandoned Tracks for a couple of quid; I bought it and haven't looked back.

What a great album to come on board with.  One of their very best, not a duff track on it.

I'm 43 next week, but only discovered NMA last year at Bearded Theory!  It was instant for me, and felt like it was music I'd always known.
