weed, alcohol and gambling ...These are not vices. These are just things.

Weed, alcohol, and gambling are just things, not vices?

thing - noun, an object that one does not wish to give a specific name to.

vice - noun, immoral or wicked behavior.

Want to try a gain?

So you are going to say smoking weed, drinking alcohol, and gambling is not wicked behavior?
So you will teach your kids to do those things? Hey, it's not wicked, it's just things. Go on kids, do it.

you cannot and mustn't declare a plant, that has been used in civilisation for thousands of years illegal. you wouldn't do that with wheat, so don't demand this for weed.
there are thousands of killings with knives every year, but no one would demand knives to be banned. or?

You said alcohol, drugs, and gambling are just "things," not vices which has the dictionary definition "immoral or wicked behavior."
So you don't believe alcohol, drugs, and gambling is immoral or bad behavior. That means you wouldn't mind if your kids do it.

Come on, those things are behavior that decent people do not involve themselves with. Seriously, what good comes from drinking alcohol, gambling away your money, and doing drugs?

Oh, come on, man. Knives serve purposes other than killing people. Hell, today I used a knife two times - made two sandwiches - and I didn't kill thousands of people with that knife. Knives serve many purposes, while weed has one purpose - to mess up an individual's mind. How exactly is that a good thing?

some american oxycodon instead? :o

like knives used for your bread i use weed for recreation. that's a tiny little part of the beneficial things weed can do. there is even weed without any effects to the brain.

of course you don"t know that humans have receptors in the brain that only purpose is to have thc and cbd to connect to.

I dont have kids and I dont do drugs. But if I had kids what would I teach them is none of your bussines. It is my bussines. You can teach your kids whatever you want and when they grew up they will take some and will not take some. There wasnt even a word about teaching and kids but you managed to get the subject to this point.Drinking alcohol or smoking or gambling are not wicked behaviours. You just do it or dont do it.Thing that matter is how you manage to control your limits or how you act to your body.Im not trying to say that they are good or bad and make a judgement here. But they will be around all the time. You cant stop it.Im smoking at least one package of cigarettes a day and if that is making me wicked I really dont care.

But it is my business. I assume you live on planet Earth. Therefore your kids may one day interact with me, interact with my kids, interact with other people on this planet. If you raise your kids that doing drugs is no big deal, well that is a problem for me and everybody else in our society. Driving while under the influence, robbing people to get money to buy their drugs...don't you see that how one raises one's kids IS all our business.

Recreation? Doing drugs for recreation is not what anybody would consider a benefit of drugs. You want to recreate? Play a sport or read a book or buy a musical instrument. Weed as recreation is making my head shake in utter disbelief.

Weed does seem to have one purpose other than screwing up users minds. It does, so I am told, subdue nausea. Chemotherapy patients may use weed for that. That's a good thing. But drugs for the purpose of recreation? Man, ride a bike instead.

I don't understand how comes that you don't use weed but your mind ist still screwed up? Anyway, again you just claim something and put it out of context. I understand that your view is the product of decades of misinformation, of propaganda to get rid of one hell of a useful plant which you cannot patent and which is a natural helper in thousands of applications the strongest ones having to do with th eproduction of paper, with an alternative to oil based products, and the health sector. Since you have such a prejudice about it, it would be useless to try to inform you, but i want to quote some proven benefits of cannabis=hemp.

Cannabis contains CBD which is a chemical that impacts the brain, making it function better without giving it a high along with THC which has pain relieving properties. Both substances can be extracted and enhanced for use through short path distillation. Users can get the following health benefits of cannabis:

Relief of chronic pain

There are hundreds of chemical compounds in cannabis, many of which are cannabinoids. Cannabinoids have been linked to providing relief of chronic pain due to their chemical makeup. Which is why cannabis’ by-product such as medical cannabis is commonly used for chronic pain relief.

Help lose weight

If you look around, you will notice that the avid cannabis user is usually not overweight. That is because cannabis is linked to aiding your body in regulating insulin while managing caloric intake efficiently.

Regulate and prevent diabetes

With its impact on insulin, it only makes sense that cannabis can help regulate and prevent diabetes. Research conducted by the American Alliance for Medical Cannabis (AAMC) has linked cannabis to stabilise blood sugars, lower blood pressure, and improve blood circulation.

Fight cancer

One of the biggest medical benefits of cannabis is its link to fighting cancer. There is a good amount of evidence that shows cannabinoids can help fight cancer or at least certain types of it.

Helps treat depression

Depression is fairly widespread without most people even knowing they have it. The endocannabinoid compounds in cannabis can help in stabilising moods which can ease depression.

Shows promise in autism treatment

Cannabis is known to calm users down and control their mood. It can help children with autism that experience frequent violent mood swings control it.

Regulate seizures

Research conducted on CBD has shown that it can help control seizures. There are ongoing studies to determine the effect cannabis has on individuals with epilepsy.

Mend bones

Cannabidiol has been linked to helping heal broken bones, quickening the process. According to Bone Research Laboratory in Tel Aviv, it also helps strengthen the bone in the process of healing. This makes it tougher for the bone to break in the future.

Helps with ADHD/ADD

Individuals with ADHD and ADD have trouble focusing on tasks at hand. They tend to have problems with cognitive performance and concentration. Cannabis has shown promise in promoting focus and helping individuals with ADHD/ADD. It is also considered a safer alternative to Adderall and Ritalin.

Treatment for glaucoma

Glaucoma leads to additional pressure on the eyeball which is painful for individuals with the disorder. Cannabis can help reduce the pressure applied on the eyeball providing some temporary relief to individuals with glaucoma.

Alleviate anxiety

While Cannabis is commonly known to cause anxiety, there is a way around that. Taken in monitored dosage and in the proper way, cannabis can help alleviate anxiety and calm users down.

Slow development of Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease is one of many that is caused by cognitive degeneration. As we age, cognitive degeneration is almost unavoidable. Cannabis’s endocannabinoid contains anti-inflammatories that fight the brain inflammation that leads to Alzheimer’s disease.

Deal with pain linked to arthritis

Cannabis is now commonly found as creams and balms which are used by individuals that have arthritis. Both THC and CBD help sufferers deal with the pain.

Helps with PTSD symptoms

PTSD doesn’t just affect veterans but any individual that goes through a trauma. As cannabis is legalised the impact it has on helping treat individuals with PTSD is being studied. Cannabis helps control the fight or flight response, preventing it from going into overdrive.

Helps provide relief to individuals with multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis can be painful, and cannabis is known to provide relief for it. Multiple sclerosis leads to painful muscle contractions and cannabis can help reduce that pain.

Reduces side effects linked to hepatitis C and increase the effectiveness of treatment

The treatment for hepatitis C has numerous side effects that include nausea, fatigue, depression, and muscle aches. These can last for months for some hepatitis C sufferers. Cannabis can help reduce the side effects caused by the treatment while making it more effective at the same time.

Treats inflammatory bowel diseases

Individuals with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis can find some relief with the use of cannabis. THC and cannabidiol are known to help enhance immune response while also interact with cells that play a vital role in the functioning of the gut. Cannabis helps block off bacteria and other compounds that cause inflammation in the intestines.

Helps with tremors associated with Parkinson’s disease

For those that have Parkinson’s disease cannabis can help reduce tremors and pain while also helping promote sleep. It has also shown to improve motor skills in patients.

Helps with alcoholism

Another one of the many health benefits of cannabis is that there is no doubt cannabis is much safer than alcohol. While it may not be 100% risk-free, it can be a smarter way to curb alcoholism by substituting it with cannabis.

https://www.healtheuropa.eu/health-benefits-of-cannabis/92499/

You may doubt this, but this is all scientifically proven. The main reasons that cannabis was made illegal, were racist propaganda (reefer madness) and the interests of producers of synthetic fibres (hemp delivers the strongest fibre, was used thousands of years for this) and paper.

This is a real important and interesting topic and please try not to put your pseudo-puritan american prejudices above it.

Cthulu, thats a cannabis promotion website. Im doubting its impartiality here ;D. Ok from my perspective, Im dead against it. Imho, its marketed as this happy friendly drug that cures all ills. As pain releif, I dont doubt there are some benefits to it.

However from my own experiences, this idea that its helpful to adhd etc is just wrong. Every troubled youth Ive ever met that self medicates, is prone to violent outbursts, every mental health sufferer likewise. I dont think cannabis is the cause, but it isnt a solution either. Not in comparison to proper medication. And despite what you say, anything that alters a normal mental state, is not a good thing. Is it a chance that mental health issues in adolescents has risen and cannabis is so freely available? There are kids stealing money to buy weed amongst other things. It may not be addictive, although im not convinced about that (a habit is a habit after all), but it is needed by some. Im not talking about the odd joint smoker, but regular buyers. Cannabis today is far more potent than the bit of pot 60's users had.

And as Ive said to my children, why on earth would you put something in your body that at some point in its existance may have been kept near someones scrotum  ;D

Spot on Bunny about your comment on weed,as a very big consumer of Cannabis during the 70's the stuff we smoked was nothing like the stuff you get today, and yes speaking from recent experience of Festivals and visits to Amsterdam  i know what i am talking about. The dope we smoked came mainly from Morocco and Lebanon,at odd times you could sometimes get Pakistani or Afghani hash which was much, much stronger( i say not too often i am talking about Jersey).I do think it should be legalised so strength, quality and supply could be controlled and also taxed plus dispensed from safe legal places thus taking away the contact with criminal elements.I also do know medicinal Cannabis is a very good pain relief for Arthritis, again i speak from experience........
